Hodeidah Governor Inspects Progress on Al-Kadan Bridge Project Linking Hodeidah and Al-Mahwit

Hodeidah Governor Abdullah Atifi and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, inspected the progress of the construction and rehabilitation project for the Al-Kadan Bridge, which connects the governorates of Hodeidah and Al-Mahwit.

The governor, accompanied by Member of Parliament Abdu Bagawi and the Deputy Governor for Northern Districts, Ghaleb Hamza, reviewed the project’s progress. The General Authority for Roads and Bridges is implementing the project at a cost of 360 million riyals, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund and supervised by the governorate’s Public Works Department.

They, along with the Director General of Bridges and Construction at the Corporation, Engineer Adnan Ibrahim, the Director of the Corporation’s branch in the governorate, Ibrahim Sharaf Al-Din, the Director of the Public Works Office, Engineer Mohammed Muthanna, and the Head of the Supervisory Team for the Road Maintenance Fund in Hodeidah and Rima, Engineer Zaid Al-Moushki, listened to an explanation of the final details of the completed works on the project and the remaining work in preparation for its completion and operation.

The Governor of Hodeidah considered the Al-Kadan Bridge project one of the vital projects that will contribute to facilitating movement between the governorates of Hodeidah and Al-Mahwit, alleviating the suffering of citizens and the transport of goods, especially in rural areas that rely primarily on this road.

He pointed out that the local authority leadership gives great importance to infrastructure projects in roads and bridges due to their important role in promoting local development and serving citizens. He noted that the project will help improve traffic safety and reduce the risks that road users previously faced.

Governor Atifi stressed the need to complete the remaining work according to the approved technical and engineering specifications, in a way that ensures the project’s sustainability and quality. He praised the efforts of the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges, the Public Works Office, and the Road Maintenance Fund in implementing this vital project.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges explained that work on the Al-Kadan Bridge has reached its final stages, with a completion rate of 98 percent. He emphasized that the technical and engineering teams are exerting intensive efforts to complete the remaining work in the near future.

He pointed out that the project is part of the Authority’s plan to implement road and bridge projects in several governorates, contributing to improving the road network, enhancing connectivity between districts and governorates, and facilitating transportation and movement for citizens.

They were accompanied during the visit by the directors of the Bajil and Al-Dahhi districts, Abdul-Munim Al-Rifai and Abdul-Haq Khabal, respectively, as well as members of the project’s supervisory team: Engineer Muhammad Ghailan, Engineer Ali Al-Samawi, Engineer Amjad Al-Kamal, and a number of specialists.
