AlDurrah and Qahim inspect the Port of Hodeidah and the damage resulting from the Israeli bombardment.

Sunday, 7/21/2024 AD, the Minister of Transport of the caretaker government, Abdul Wahab Al-Durra, and the Governor of Hodeidah, Muhammad Qahim, inspected the progress of work in the port of Hodeidah, and the damage resulting from the targeting of the port by the Israeli aggression.

Al-Durrah and Qahim, along with the head of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Zaid Al-Washli, and his deputy, Nasr Al-Nusairi, were briefed on the damage caused to the bridge cranes in berths No. (6) and (7) and the extent to which the movement of handling and transporting commercial goods was affected as a result of the destruction of these cranes and the targeting of the port with a number of raids.

They heard from the head of the institution, Al-Washli, his deputy, Al-Nusairi, and a number of specialists, an explanation about the total damage and material and human losses as a result of the direct Israeli bombing of the port, and the number of victims and missing workers in the port of Hodeidah.

The efforts of the security services and the Forensic Evidence Department were also reviewed in collecting evidence and photos that documented the bombing, in preparation for submitting the crime file to the Public Prosecution to take legal measures, and then work to remove the remnants of the bombing to restore work in the port and complete the unloading of the ships located at the docks and insert the waiting ships into the submersible.

Minister Al-Durra stressed the importance of concerted efforts to confront the threats and repercussions of the course of action of the Red Sea ports.

He reassured everyone that work is underway to receive and unload ships of food supplies and oil derivatives within 24 hours, considering the recurrence of crimes targeting Red Sea ports a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the four Geneva Conventions, which stipulate the criminalization of targeting ports, vital facilities, and civilian objects.

Al-Durra expressed his thanks to workers from all parties and institutions for their continued efforts to stop the aggression’s attempts to bomb the port of Hodeidah, with the aim of starving the Yemeni people and imposing new humanitarian consequences on the country by influencing the movement of navigational and commercial activity and the process of entry of ships.

While Governor Qahim explained that this crime and the crimes that preceded it come as a result of the position of the Yemeni leadership and people in supporting the Palestinian people, against whom genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity are being committed with various types of Israeli weapons with American and British support.

He stressed that the Israeli aggression will only increase the Yemeni people’s determination and steadfastness to support the Palestinian people and defend the nation’s sanctities, calling on the United Nations to play its role and responsibilities towards the targeting of the port of Hodeidah and the re-destruction of the bridge cranes.

They were accompanied by the Directors of the Maritime Affairs Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mushki, the Marine Operations Captain, Mohammed Al-Siyas, the Coast Guard, Brigadier General Suleiman Al-Jamai, the Deputy Director General of the Container Terminal, Dr. Ahmed Al-Murtada, and Hodeidah Port Security, Mohammed Atef.
