Discussion of the Traffic Safety Plan for Al-Sabeen Square in the Capital Governorate

A meeting was held in Sana’a today, bringing together the Director General of Traffic Police, Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi, and the Chairman of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, to discuss the traffic safety plan for Al-Sabeen Square proposed by the Traffic Police.
The meeting, which also included the Authority’s Projects Director, Engineer Sadiq Al-Jarbaani, the Authority’s Traffic Safety Director, Engineer Abdul Latif Al-Imad, the Director of Traffic for the Governorate, Brigadier General Najib Al-Asadi, and the Director of Traffic Safety for the Works and Projects Sector, Engineer Sultan Al-Ahdal, addressed the evaluation of the implementation of measures to address accident black spots (areas and locations where accidents frequently occur) on the long-distance roads connecting the governorates, and ways to address them from an engineering and technical perspective.
The meeting reviewed the plan for implementing traffic safety measures in Al-Sabeen Square to reduce recurring traffic accidents and find engineering solutions. This included implementing urgent traffic safety measures such as installing reflective road studs to improve nighttime visibility and ensure drivers stay in their lanes, repainting the concrete barriers in the square, accurately marking lanes, installing nighttime lighting on lampposts, and rearranging the concrete barriers to create a straight line that prevents motorcycles from entering through them.
The Director General of Traffic Police praised the constructive cooperation of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and the Capital Secretariat in supporting the Traffic Police’s efforts. He emphasized the importance of coordination between the General Authority for Roads, the Secretariat’s Public Works Department, and the Traffic Police to implement joint projects related to enhancing traffic safety.
For his part, the Chairman of the Roads and Bridges Authority, Engineer Al-Hadrami, affirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening coordination with the Traffic Police to ensure the safety of road users. He also highlighted the traffic safety projects and works completed in several governorates that have contributed to improving road safety.
