Discussion of the projects of the United Nations Development Program in the port of Hodeida

A meeting was held in the port of Hodeida on Sunday, 6-3-2022 AD, chaired by the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer Yahya Abbas Sharaf El-Din, and with him the Director General of Maritime Affairs – Member of the Presidential Committee for Evaluation and Maintenance of the Floating Reservoir Safer Ibrahim Al-Mushki with the Director of the Port Rehabilitation Project in the Program The United Nations Development Programme, “Kate Kabotia and the representative of the International Maritime Organization” , Kevin Octell, the progress of work in the matrix of projects submitted by the Foundation to the program and what has been accomplished in it according to the time plan specified for those projects to rehabilitate the port of Hodeida.
In the meeting attended by the Communication and Communication Committee formed of technicians and engineers at the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation with the Development Program, Engineer Sharaf Al-Din explained that the port of Hodeida is still under the weight of the systematic siege by the forces of aggression, which increases the suffering of the Yemeni people by preventing the entry of basic materials and oil derivatives to the ports Enterprise .
He stressed the readiness of the Corporation, with its capabilities and cadres, to contribute to any work required to treat the floating tank Safer.. He explained that the Corporation had previously contributed to the preventive maintenance process of the tank with its divers and technicians.
The program demanded the speedy completion of the implementation of the projects that were agreed upon according to the matrix’s chronic implementation plan.
While the Director General of Maritime Affairs – a member of the Presidential Committee – for the evaluation and maintenance of the Safir floating tank, pointed out the importance of sensing responsibility for the environmental damage that the Safir floating tank will leave on marine waters, which are not owned by a specific authority or a specific country, because this disaster, if it happened, would affect the entire region.
He called on the International Maritime Organization to play a greater role in order to avoid the occurrence of this disaster, which would have dire consequences for the entire marine life, as it is the organization concerned with this aspect.
The meeting was attended by the corporation’s communication committee formed by the general managers of the technical department, engineering projects, procurement and warehouses, marine operations and follow-up.
