The House of Representatives approves the reports of the Transport and Communications Committee on the level of performance of the Maritime Affairs and Land Transport Authorities

 

The House of Representatives approved in its session today, headed by the Speaker of the Council, Brother Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, the report of the Transport and Communications Committee on the level of performance and achievement of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs for the years 2021 AD – 2024 AD.

The approval of the report comes after the commitment of the government side, represented by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works Yahya Al-Siyani, and in the presence of the Acting Chairman of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs, Zaid Al-Washli, and a number of specialists in the relevant authorities to implement the following recommendations:

1- The government, represented by the Ministry of Finance, should provide the necessary financial support to repair, maintain and rehabilitate the marine communications system in the Authority’s branch in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, in a manner that enables the Authority to carry out its tasks in monitoring and ensuring the safety of maritime navigation.

2- Activating the Minister of Transport’s decision No. 65 of 2010 regarding the affiliation of lighthouses and navigational aids that serve passing international navigation and paying the Authority’s share of lighting fees paid to the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, which is set at (40%) of those fees.

3- Providing the necessary financial support to implement the Authority’s projects shown in the table attached to this report and for ten projects in the amount of (196,550,000) riyals, since the Authority does not have any resources due to the siege and aggression imposed on our country.

In a related context, the Council approved the report of the Transport and Communications Committee on the level of performance and achievement of the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs during the years 2021-2023.

This came after the government side, represented by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works, committed to implementing the following recommendations:

1- The government, represented by the Ministry of Administration and Local and Rural Development – the Capital Secretariat – the General Authority for Lands and State Properties and the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, should work on:

A- Providing parking lots for sorting passenger transport between governorates.
B- Providing suitable land to establish a bus arrival and departure station for public transport.

C- Providing parking lots for sorting buses and urban transport vehicles in the governorates, especially within the capital.

2- The Ministry of Interior, represented by the security departments and the General Traffic Department, must arrest anyone who imposes and collects fees not based on the law on paid transport and refer them to the Public Prosecution to complete the legal procedures against them, and resolve any problems related to the prosecutions in the matter of completing the procedures.

The Council had begun the session by reviewing its previous minutes and approved them and will continue holding its business sessions tomorrow, Tuesday, God willing.
