The Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation condemns the Israeli aggression’s targeting of the port of Hodeidah

The Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli aggression that targeted the port of Hodeidah with a number of raids, which led to martyrs, injuries, the loss of others, and the destruction of a number of bridge cranes.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Corporation considered the Israeli enemy’s targeting of the port of Hodeidah and the service facilities operating in the Corporation’s ports, and the re-destruction of the bridge cranes, a clear violation of international law and its covenants, which criminalize targeting them and call for their preservation and the protection of civilian lives.
The statement indicated that this crime, and the previous crimes of destroying the facilities and machinery of Hodeidah Port and the Red Sea ports, targeting infrastructure, and the resulting systematic bombing of maritime navigation services, double the humanitarian repercussions and cause increased suffering for the Yemeni people.
He explained that the corporation is still suffering from the repercussions of the aggression that the ports were subjected to over a period of eight years, as a result of the aggression, the blockade, and the illegal restrictions to close the ports, which represented a flagrant violation of international conventions, which criminalize targeting service and vital facilities.
The statement pointed out that the destruction of port infrastructure and the systematic targeting of maritime transport equipment and services, in addition to the announcement of the closure of all seaports, will remain a witness to the war crimes committed by the Saudi-American aggression coalition against humanity in Yemen.
The corporation’s statement warned of the seriousness of the aggression and the threat it poses to the interests of the Yemeni people… reminding the international community of what happened to the port of Hodeidah, whose bridge cranes, maintenance and storage hangars, and marine buoy slides for the port, the occupation of the port of Al-Mukha, and the targeting of the facilities and piers of the two ports of Ras. Issa and Al-Salif, disrupting navigational and commercial activity, and preventing the entry of food, medicine, fuel and humanitarian needs.
The Foundation considered the destruction that occurred to the Red Sea ports, and the deliberate bombing of their infrastructure and service mechanisms for transporting and unloading ships loaded with goods, a full-fledged war crime, and a violation of international humanitarian law and recognized conventions, including the four Geneva Conventions and the protocols attached to them, which criminalize the targeting of vital facilities and civilian objects. .
It called on the United Nations and its affiliated organizations to assume their responsibilities towards these threats and violations, protect port services, as well as fulfill their obligations in accordance with what was agreed upon to provide bridge cranes and equipment previously destroyed by the aggression.
