The Acting Chairman of the Supreme Economic Committee launches the e-government payments system

 

Advisor to the President of the Supreme Political Council, Acting Chairman of the Higher Economic Committee, Hashem Ismail, confirmed that the inauguration of the e-government payments system is one of the economic recovery projects included in the national vision to build the modern Yemeni state.

The Acting Chairman of the Committee, during the inauguration of the government payments system in the Agricultural Cooperative Credit Bank today, in the presence of the finance ministers, Sharafuddin Al-Kahlani and Agriculture, Eng. Abdul Malik Al-Thaur and the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Rashid Abu Lahm, and the Chairman of the CAC Bank, Mohamed Saleh Al-La’i, stated that the e-government payments project will enhance Yemen’s economic capabilities in conjunction with the reforms taking place in various governmental sectors in light of the aggression and the blockade that Yemen is exposed to.

“We are proud to launch this project, which was designed by Yemeni cadres,” said the advisor to the President of the Supreme Political Council, stressing that the success of Yemeni cadres in designing and creating such systems and programs comes in the context of self-sufficiency after Yemen relied on bringing in cadres from millions of dollars.

He pointed out that the “Swift” system of the credit bank was subjected to piracy and targeting by the other party, but it has survived and managed to achieve success through the launch of more financial operations and innovation of modern systems and achieving more growth in various indicators.

He stressed that the countries of the aggression alliance and its followers are fighting any project or system for managing electronic cash in the liberated provinces and pretending at the same time that they are keen on the country’s economy after they dumped it by printing one trillion and 720 billion riyals of the illegal currency.

He said, “We are launching this major achievement and counting on it to make changes in government and private financial dealings at the country level, especially the voluntary government sectors such as taxes, customs, oil, as well as private sector companies.”

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Supreme Economic Committee called for improving performance and avoiding stereotypes and routines that prevailed in government sectors during the past periods … noting to the continuous recovery and recovery witnessed by various government agencies and sectors of the state, no matter how skeptics doubted and shivered shakers.

He stressed that the electronic government payment systems will provide solutions to many of the problems that were prevalent, especially those related to corruption, as it allows previous control to prevent any financial corruption occurring compared to documentary and paper-based procedures … indicating that the Supreme Economic Committee relies on such systems to achieve many economic goals for different Governmental sectors for their speed and ease in implementing financial operations, exchanging information and implementing various purchases for citizens.

He stated that the system will contribute to alleviating the crowds experienced by the exchange houses and the various selling shops within the framework of the precautionary measures to confront the Corona virus, as it will reduce the costs that are added to the prices of different goods and services, and also provides the process of collection around the clock, not only during the official working hours of the bank and the parties dealing with it Pointing out that there are similar and large projects that will be launched this year to form an integrated system of government work of an economic nature.

The adviser to the President of the Supreme Political Council stated that the Supreme Economic Committee plans to include the electronic system 90 percent of the country’s payments by the end of 2020, stressing that these activities will receive the full care and attention of the Supreme Economic Committee.

He added, “The state views all government and private agencies as integrated systems and national capital.”

He praised the agricultural cooperative credit bank’s possession of cadres and expertise that helped it inaugurate this system, which must include all parts of the country … Appreciating the interaction of various government agencies with the inauguration of the system.

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Supreme Economic Minister warned the other party against taking further steps that harm the national economy and the livelihood of citizens.

He reiterated the readiness of the Economic Committee to work on developing and improving the business environment through the governance of all businesses and economic activities, provided that legislation and laws are the separation between the state and the private sector.

He pointed out that the proposed national document for a comprehensive solution represented effective economic solutions for all Yemenis and a fair way for all parties if there was a seriousness of the solution … noting to the efforts made by the Supreme Economic Committee in coordination with societal components to alleviate the suffering of retirees by disbursing their pensions and continuing to work to exchange Salaries of state employees in general.

He said, “The United Nations is still fluctuating its place on the issue of salaries and until now the other party has not committed to provide any balance to cover the deficit in the salary account in the central bank branch in Hodeidah.”

“The other party is still evading and delaying the issue of providing the necessary financial coverage to pay salaries and trying to engage in broad consultations in order to lose time and rights,” he added.

The Acting Chairman of the Supreme Economic Committee called on the International Monetary Fund to fulfill its responsibilities and legal obligations to provide urgent and interest-free financing to strengthen the health sector’s structure in Yemen and pay the salaries of employees in the framework of preparations to face the Corona pandemic in light of the significant decline in the health sector’s performance due to five years of aggression and siege .

The Chairman of the Board of Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank, CAC Bank, indicated that the launch of the Business Payments Service (Money Bay) comes within the framework of electronic banking services and keeping pace with global banking developments … indicating that the service enables companies, institutions and individuals to pay taxes and customs, as well as amounts of oil derivatives and government fees Others easily, safely and using a mobile phone.

He pointed out that the launch of the “Cardless” product represents a qualitative step by CAC Bank as the first national bank to implement this service in Yemen, which allows Mobile Money customers to withdraw from ATMs without the need for an ATM card, but through the withdrawal code of Mobile Money.

Al-Lai’i pointed out that the opening of the new branch of the bank in the capital, Sanaa, is a qualitative addition to the bank’s branches, to become 71 branches and offices, and more than five thousand financial agents throughout Yemen.

He emphasized that CAC Bank is one of the first banks in providing electronic services in most of its branches through point of sale service that coincided with the issuance of prepaid cards and visa, then the start was the launch of the widest network of ATMs in Yemen and the accompanying services that CAC Bank distinguished from others as fast service For remittances, dbt cards, kak online and others.

Al-La’i pointed out the importance of launching the service in implementation of the state’s trends towards electronic cash transactions, in a way that serves the banking sector and preserves the national economy from the challenges it faces and as a treatment to face the challenges as well as the importance of this in the context of precautionary measures and measures to confront the Corona virus.

During the inauguration, he made a television presentation on the activities and programs of the bank and the stages of its development in providing its banking services since its inception and its distinguished specialized and qualified cadres in various fields.
