Hodeidah – Red Sea Ports Corporation Honors Outstanding Employees on International Workers’ Day

The Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation held a ceremony today in Hodeidah Governorate to honor its outstanding employees and workers for the year 2026, on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, under the slogan “A Hand That Protects… A Hand That Builds.”

At the ceremony, Hodeidah Governor Abdullah Atifi praised the exceptional efforts exerted by the corporation’s workers and employees under the current circumstances facing the country.

He emphasized that the recognition is a small token of appreciation for the legendary resilience demonstrated by the corporation’s staff as they face challenges with utmost dedication and sincerity.

Atifi pointed out that the ports of Hodeidah remain the main artery for the Yemeni people, explaining that the resilience of the economic and service sectors at the ports has thwarted the aggression’s attempts to tighten the noose around Yemen by targeting ports and vital facilities. He pointed out that the steadfastness of the institution’s staff in their offices and port areas, despite the bombing and threats, embodied the highest ideals of national loyalty, emphasizing that the development process will not stop thanks to the sacrifices of dedicated individuals in the service sectors.

For his part, the First Deputy Governor, Ahmed al-Bashari, affirmed that the continued operation of the ports, despite the damage, targeting, and blockade they endured, reflects the workers’ sense of responsibility, embodying a shining example of resilience and steadfastness in the face of challenges.

He considered honoring outstanding employees an incentive for the rest of the staff to give more and raise the level of performance, praising the professional discipline and indomitable spirit that Yemeni workers possess in various fields of work and production.

Al-Bashari called for strengthening unity and solidarity and continuing to follow in the footsteps of the martyred workers who sacrificed their lives to ensure the continued provision of humanitarian and relief services through the Red Sea ports to all the people of Yemen. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer Zaid Al-Washli, reviewed the extent of the material and human losses suffered by the corporation as a result of the systematic targeting by the American, Saudi, and Zionist aggression. This aggression targeted machinery, cranes, and port infrastructure, among a series of crimes that resulted in the martyrdom of technical and labor personnel.

He explained that, thanks to the resilience and dedication of its workers, the corporation was able to maintain the ports’ operational readiness and rehabilitate some of the damage caused by the aggression using its own resources. He affirmed that the corporation is moving forward with its development plans to enhance operational efficiency.

Al-Washli commended the ongoing support and attention from the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works in assisting the corporation and overcoming the difficulties it faced. He considered this close cooperation the cornerstone of restoring the ports’ leading role and overcoming the effects of the blockade and systematic targeting.

The Chairman of the Corporation highlighted the role of the ports in breaking the economic blockade, praising the concerted efforts of all parties working at the port to achieve the necessary smooth flow of goods and arriving vessels.
