Prime Minister Muftah Inspects Maintenance and Restoration Work on the Sana’a-Hodeidah Road

Acting Prime Minister Muftah, accompanied by Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim and Hodeidah Governor Abdullah Atifi, inspected the progress of maintenance and restoration work on the Sana’a-Hodeidah road.
Muftah, Qahim, Atifi, and the Chairman of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Hadrami, reviewed the implementation of the maintenance and restoration work, including the rehabilitation of retaining walls, drainage channels, and watercourses on this vital artery. They also assessed the level of completion of the work being carried out by the General Authority for Roads and Bridges with funding from the Road Maintenance Fund.
Engineer Al-Hadrami explained that the ongoing work includes, in addition to maintenance and repairs, the installation of concrete barriers and other necessary asphalt repairs to ensure the continued readiness of this vital road and the safety of its users. He indicated that this work is part of a road maintenance project stretching 90 kilometers from Sana’a to the Manakhah area, with a width of seven meters and earthen shoulders ranging from one to one and a half meters.
He noted that concrete work is being carried out in areas with steep slopes to prevent the recurrence of shoulder erosion, along with traffic safety measures such as safety barriers for dangerous curves, repairs to damaged bridge railings, and the construction and expansion of drainage channels. He explained that approximately 50 pieces of equipment and machinery are involved in the project.
During the visit, Al-Muftah emphasized the importance of the Sana’a-Hodeidah road, which connects the capital, Sana’a, to the governorate and its vital facilities. He stressed the importance of adhering to technical standards to ensure the quality of the work and its longevity. He praised the efforts of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges and all its engineering and technical teams, whether working on this vital road or other vital roads.
