“A broad meeting at the Ministry of Industry discusses the situation of medicine importers”

Today, an expanded meeting was held at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, headed by the Ministers of Industry, Trade, Public Health and Population in the caretaker government, Muhammad Sharaf Al-Mutahhar and Taha Al-Mutawakkil, to discuss the conditions and problems of companies and institutions importing the valleys.
During the meeting, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Ahmed Al-Shoutari, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Abdul Malik Ali Abdul Karim
The head of the Customs Authority, Adel Margham, the head of the Supreme Authority for Medicines, Ali Abbas, the director of the Medicine Importers Union, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, and the directors and representatives of medicine import companies. The Minister of Industry and Trade explained that the meeting comes within the directives of His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, to address the problems and obstacles facing medicine merchants and importers.
He stressed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade gives priority to producers and importers of medicines as they are essential goods and will work to overcome the difficulties and obstacles facing those working in this important sector, ensuring that the needs of the local market for quality medicines and supplies are met.
Minister Al-Mutahhar indicated that the Ministry provides its services smoothly and easily through the electronic portal, stressing the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate with the Union of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Importers in resolving problems with shipping companies regarding the process of refrigerated shipping of medicines.
For his part, the Minister of Public Health and Population stressed the importance of such meetings to solve all problems that ensure the flow of medicines without delay.
He noted the importance of the role played by drug importers in providing the necessary treatments and supplies to the medical sector.
He pointed out that the meeting, which was held in the presence of officials from the relevant authorities, reflects the seriousness of the response from the official authorities in resolving the problems facing drug importers and ensuring that medicines reach the local market with effectiveness, efficiency and the required standards.
For his part, the head of the Customs Authority touched on the measures taken by the Authority regarding the speed of customs clearance of medicine shipments.
In addition, importers of medicines and medical supplies expressed their appreciation for the response to their problems and the speed of translating the decisions and actions taken.
The meeting listened to a number of problems presented by managers and representatives of pharmaceutical importing companies and institutions.
The meeting approved a number of measures regarding it and assigned the Medicine Importers Union to develop an integrated vision to follow up on implementation with the relevant authorities.
