A meeting chaired by Maqboli discusses government facilities for the private sector in the port of Hodeida

 

A meeting in Sana’a , chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Makbouli, discussed government facilities for the private sector, chambers of commerce and navigation rooms for the entry of container ships to the port of Hodeida.

The meeting, which included the Ministers of Transport, Amer Al-Marani, and Industry and Trade Abdulwahab Al-Durra, and the President of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, touched on the institution’s technical and operational readiness to receive container ships and all commercial vessels, according to international standards and applicable in international ports.

He also touched on the Ports Corporation’s facilities provided to shipping rooms and shipping line companies, including a 21-day period allowing container ships to unload container ships in the port of Hodeida, with the aim of encouraging shipping line companies to find new shipping lines that contribute to increasing and lifting container ships to the port of Hodeida.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs praised the technical and operational readiness of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, to ensure the provision of facilities to the private sector and the navigation and commercial chambers.

He pointed to the advantages that the Hodeida  port enjoys from the rest of the Yemeni ports, in terms of location, proximity, and the low cost of transportation from it to Sana’a and other governorates, stressing the interest of the Supreme Political Council and the Salvation Government in the strategic port of Hodeida.

In turn, the Minister of Transport stressed the keenness to provide more facilities to merchants and the private sector, in the public interest, pointing out the need for everyone to assume the responsibility to alleviate the suffering of the citizen in light of the continued aggression and siege.

For his part, the Minister of Industry and Trade confirmed that the government measures taken to suspend 49 percent of customs duties will reduce and stabilize the prices of basic commodities and foodstuffs.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Industry worked to establish and develop the inspection laboratory at the port in accordance with international standards for goods, foodstuffs and products.

Meanwhile, the head of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation considered the services and facilities provided to the shipping chambers and shipping line companies as an opportunity for trade and importers.

He said: “The port of Hodeida was created to serve the country and the citizen, and to provide humanitarian and relief services to the Yemeni people.”
