A meeting headed by Al-Ruwaishan discusses the readiness of Sana’a International Airport

A meeting in Sana’a, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs, Lieutenant-General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, discussed the readiness of Sana’a International Airport to receive civilian flights, in the event of lifting the siege on it.

The meeting, which included Minister of Transport Amer Al-Marani, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Director of Sanaa Airport Khaled Al-Shayef, and Advisor to the Ministry of Transport, Muhammad Al-Sharif, reviewed the airport’s operational, technical, security and navigational readiness in accordance with international requirements and conditions and the International Aviation Organization ICAO.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs affirmed the commitment of the Supreme Political Council and the National Salvation Government to all international conditions and standards related to airport safety and security.

He pointed out that the opening of Sana’a International Airport is a purely humanitarian aspect, and it cannot in any way be linked to the military, security and political aspects.

Al-Ruwaishan called on the international community to put pressure on the coalition of aggression to quickly lift the siege on Sanaa International Airport, as closing it is inconsistent with all norms, charters and international agreements.

He pointed to the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the closure of Sana’a Airport, especially patients, students, businessmen and expatriates.

For his part, the Minister of Transport stressed that all means of transportation are linked to the humanitarian aspect as they are basic services that meet the needs of citizens.

He pointed out that the closure of Sanaa airport has exacerbated the human suffering of the Yemeni people, stressing that international charters, conventions and treaties and the ICAO, most notably the Chicago Convention, guarantee the right of movement and travel for all citizens, even in wars.

The Minister of Transport indicated that the coalition of aggression had disregarded all laws and agreements, in light of the silence of the international community.

Meanwhile, the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation reiterated that Sana’a Airport is ready to receive all civil and commercial flights and has operational and technical readiness in accordance with international standards applicable in international airports.

He stressed that the General Authority of Civil Aviation works impartially and provides its services in the fields of civil aviation and air navigation in accordance with international conditions and requirements
