Al-Junaid: The closure of Yemeni airports is contrary to international norms and laws

The Deputy Prime Minister for National Vision Affairs and Head of the Executive Office of the Vision Department, Mahmoud Al-Junaid, confirmed that the closure of Yemen’s airports and the siege of the Yemeni people are inconsistent with international principles, norms and laws.
Al-Junaid said during his meeting with the Minister of Transport, Abdul Wahhab Al-Durra, “The United Nations celebration of World Aviation Day makes it a strange paradox as it watches and remains silent in front of the suffering of the people of Yemen as a result of the blockade and the inability of patients to travel to receive treatment as the most basic human rights.”
He pointed out that the international silence on the crimes of aggression and the siege that the Yemeni people are subjected to is evidence of their complicity and participation in those crimes. He stressed the need to lift the siege and open Sana’a International Airport and the rest of the Yemeni airports, in front of flights to and from Yemen, among the priorities of the demands and rights of the Yemeni people. lawful and urgent.
The Deputy Prime Minister praised the efforts made by the leadership and cadres of the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated bodies to develop various transport services, within the framework of the objectives of the national vision and the plan for the year 1444 AH emanating from it.
In turn, the Minister of Transport affirmed that Yemen participates in the revival of the World Aviation Day event on the seventh of December of each year, despite the aggression, blockade and destruction that affected Yemeni airports in light of the shameful international silence.
He said: “The world’s airports are open, and provide services to travelers to move freely, while the Yemeni people are in prison because of the aggression and the comprehensive and applied blockade, and most of the airports of the Republic of Yemen are destroyed and suspended because of the aggression.”
Minister Al-Durra indicated that the Republic of Yemen joined the world in celebrating World Aviation Day, which falls on the seventh of December.. He added: “Arab and foreign airlines have expressed their willingness to operate civil flights to and from Sana’a International Airport, but they were met with refusal and pressure from the aggression coalition to do so despite the readiness.” airport technical operation”.
He pointed out that civil aviation activity suffers from a halt due to the blockade, which led to the deprivation of the Yemeni people of their rights to travel and movement like the rest of the peoples of the world, and for a period of eight years, during which patients, students and expatriates were affected by the bombing and closure of airports.
The Minister of Transport also confirmed that the Ministry and the Civil Aviation Authority are currently seeking, within their future plan, to rehabilitate and operate Hodeidah and Taiz airports, in accordance with international laws and specifications.
