Deputy Minister of Transport calls for compensation of Yemeni merchants due to the burning of the container ship ” Tss Pearl”

Deputy Minister of Transport, Mohammed Al-Hashemi, called on the United Nations to pressure the countries of the Saudi-led aggression to compensate Yemeni merchants, who suffered losses as a result of the burning of the commercial container ship “Tss Pearl”, off the port of Jizan in mid-October.

Deputy Minister of Transport, in a statement condemned the neglect of the Panamanian commercial container ship by the countries of the aggression, when a fire broke out on it, and left it without the intervention of rescue teams in the Saudi port of Jizan, despite the distress of the ship’s crew.

“The ship, which was carrying various goods for a group of Yemeni merchants, was exposed to a fire that lasted for nearly nine days without any intervention by the rescue teams off Jizan port, which did not perform their humanitarian duty to put out the fire.” ,He said.

Al-Hashemi was surprised by the negative attitude of the countries of aggression and their failure to fulfill their duties towards the ship in accordance with the requirements, conditions and international maritime navigational laws, which led to the destruction of all commercial goods loaded on the ship.

He called on the international community and the United Nations to open the port of Hodeida for the entry of various ships, including commercial container ships, in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people and providing their basic needs of food, medicine and fuel.

Deputy Minister of Transport held the United Nations and the coalition of aggression responsible for the sea piracy that the ships are subjected to, and their taking to Jizan port, in clear violation of all international conventions and covenants.
