Deputy Minister of Transport confirms the intention to transform the Institute of Civil Aviation and Meteorology into a higher academy

Deputy Minister of Transport, Mohammed Al-Hashemi, confirmed the intention of the Ministry and the Civil Aviation Authority to transform the Institute of Civil Aviation and Meteorology into a Higher Academy of Civil Aviation and Meteorology.

Deputy Minister of Transport, during his visit to the Institute of Civil Aviation , indicated the ministry’s leadership’s interest in the training and rehabilitation work, technical equipment and legislation at the institute and working to transform it into a higher academy that meets the needs of the authority and the country in the field of civil aviation and meteorology.

He pointed to the importance of qualitative training and qualification for the development of human capabilities that contribute to building and developing the institutional work to build the modern Yemeni state, noting the technical and professional efforts made by the Institute’s leadership in training and rehabilitation, especially in the field of civil aviation and meteorology.

Al-Hashimi expressed the Ministry of Transport’s readiness to provide support and facilities to the Institute to ensure the improvement of the training process, pointing out that the plan for the second phase of the projects and programs of the Ministry of Transport, its bodies and institutions for the new year 1444 AD, will contribute to upgrading the various fields of transport.

Deputy Minister of Transport inspected the progress of training and qualification work in the field of civil aviation and meteorology and ways to develop and modernize the training process to keep pace with international requirements and the International Aviation Organization (ICAO).

And he heard from the director of the institute, Dr. Naji Al-Sahmi, an explanation of the training and rehabilitation process at the institute and the institute’s achievements during the past period in qualifying the cadres of the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority and its various sectors in accordance with the international specifications and requirements applicable in international aviation institutes.

Al-Sahmi explained that until the end of last August, the institute implemented 12 courses and training programs for 240 male and female trainees from the authority’s bureau and its various sectors, pointing to the institute’s development plans and studies and future ambitions to upgrade the institute’s methodology.

Deputy Minister of Transport was also briefed on what the institute contains of halls, equipment and training supplies and the activities it implements in the field of training, rehabilitation and development curricula through qualified Yemeni cadres.

He heard from the specialists a proposal to keep pace with the development of the institute technically and professionally and to support its infrastructure of laboratories and media, as well as to support and rehabilitate the human cadre and strive to transform the institute into an accredited academy for regional training in accordance with the matrix of the national vision for nation-building.
