Discuss mechanisms for coordinating the implementation of the rehabilitation project for Hodeidah port

A meeting with the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation in Hodeidah today discussed the coordination and work mechanisms for the project to rehabilitate the port of Hodeidah and the mechanisms, equipment and cranes for unloading the ships targeted by the aggression coalition aircraft.

The meeting, which included the executive vice president of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer Yahya Abbas Sharaf Al-Din, the director of the project for the rehabilitation of the port of Hodeidah in the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Catherine Kapothia and the directors of the general departments of the institution on the importance of expediting the implementation of the project in accordance with the agreements signed recently between Ministry of Transport and Development Program.

In the meeting, Sharaf al-Din affirmed the ministry’s and the establishment’s keenness on the necessity of implementing the projects because of its importance in restarting the port, which is the main artery for the Yemeni people, noting the facilities provided by the Ministry of Transport and the institution to the UN mission and those in charge of the development program in Hodeidah Governorate while assessing the damage and studying the needs.

Sharaf al-Din referred to the human suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression’s continued alliance in seizing ships and preventing them from entering the port despite obtaining the required permits, and the piracy and arbitrary measures that ships are exposed to that contradict international conventions and treaties.

In turn, the Director of the Hudaydah Port Rehabilitation Project at the United Nations Development Program praised the facilities provided by the Ministry of Transport and the Foundation, both to the UN mission and to those working in the development program at the port.

She explained that she is fully aware of the projects matrix presented by the Foundation, stressing that the executive procedures for it will be discussed in upcoming meetings and discussions between the program and the Foundation in the near future.

The meeting was attended by Director General of the Planning Department, Dr. Waddah Mujmal, a number of specialists at the Corporation and expert in ports of the program, Mustafa Ali.
