Discussing a mechanism for enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and the Chambers of Commerce and Maritime

A meeting at the Ministry of Transport today, chaired by Minister Abdul Wahab Al-Durra, discussed a mechanism for enhancing cooperation between the ministry, the private sector, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chambers of Navigation.

 

The meeting, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Transport, Mohammed Al-Hashemi, and the head of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammed Ishaq, via video technology from Hodeidah, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital’s secretariat, Hassan Al-Kbous, and his deputy, Mohammed Salah, and officials of shipping companies and importers of food and basic materials, reviewed aspects of coordination in the import process for various goods and facilities. At the meeting, the Minister of Transport stressed the importance of benefiting from the facilities provided to importing merchants by shipping their goods to the port of Hodeidah, with the aim of contributing to alleviating the suffering of citizens, especially after the mercenaries raised the price of the customs dollar to 750 riyals.

 

He praised the role of the national private sector in the economic development process as a key partner in building the country, stressing the government’s keenness to overcome the difficulties facing this sector, enabling it to play its developmental role as required.

The Minister of Transport stressed the importance of international commercial transport companies delivering goods to the port of Hodeidah, especially at a time when all conditions are suitable and encouraging for that.

 

In turn, the head of the Hodeidah Red Sea Ports Corporation confirmed that all measures and preparations have been taken to receive commercial container ships in the port of Hodeidah.

While the shipping companies confirmed their readiness to transport the goods of the merchants to the port of Hodeidah at the costs agreed upon between the companies and the merchants.
