Dr. Abu Lahoum meets with Transport Minister, Head of Red Sea Ports Foundation

 

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs-Minister of Finance Dr. Rashid Abu Lahoum met today with the Minister of Transport Abdulwahab Al-Durra and the head of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Ishaq.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues related to the Corporation’s work and ways to support it to implement the approved plans for the current year, and the Corporation’s efforts to re-receive container ships through the port of Hodeidah.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed keenness to support the Red Sea Ports Corporation in order to enable it to perform its tasks in organizing and running maritime transport through the port of Hodeidah.

He pointed to the importance that the Hodeidah port acquires in serving the population density in a number of governorates, pointing out that the Ministry of Transport and the Ports Corporation’s efforts to re-receive container ships through the port of Hodeidah will contribute to alleviating the burdens on the citizen in the main.

Dr. Abu Lahoum praised the Corporation’s performance during the last period and its leadership’s keenness to continue the work despite the difficulties it faced, which amounted to the direct targeting of the port by the aggression.

In turn, the Minister of Transport affirmed the Ministry of Transport’s interest and keenness in the Red Sea Ports Corporation and the humanitarian services it provides to most of the population of Yemen.

He pointed out that the port of Hodeidah works around the clock to provide the needs of the Yemeni people, despite the suspension of most of the equipment as a result of bombing and destruction by the aggression, with the aim of disrupting the navigational movement in the port.

While the head of the Red Sea Ports Corporation indicated that the corporation’s ports were subjected to systematic destruction by the aggression, but it continues to provide efficient and professional humanitarian navigation services.

Ishaq pointed out that all employees of the Corporation and its ports are working in the spirit of one team, despite the difficulties and challenges caused by the aggression’s targeting of equipment, mechanisms and devices.

The meeting was attended by Director of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Economic Affairs Kamal Khaled.
