Head of the Land Transport Authority: President Al-Mashat’s decision to cancel urban transport fees serves those working on public transport

 

The head of the General Authority for Land Transport Regulatory Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Muayyad, confirmed that the decision of His Excellency President Al-Mashat to cancel urban transport fees includes exempting all buses, public transport buses and small means of transport in the capital secretariat from all fees for long public parking, under bridges or sorting, and considering them as free services for workers. In the public transportation sector.
Al-Muayad indicated in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the bus driver was paying 200 riyals per day, equivalent to six thousand riyals per month, for local urban transportation fees.
He pointed out that the decision of His Excellency President Al-Mashat to cancel fees primarily serves citizens with limited income who work in public transportation in the capital secretariat and the governorates in various routes and sorting, and its impact is due to the citizens, as there are about eight thousand buses in the capital secretariat only, in addition to their owners benefiting. And its workers are directly affected by the decision, pointing out that the decision will contribute to alleviating the burdens on this segment.
He said, “Since the issuance of the directives of His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, the Authority’s branches have begun field visits to educate bus drivers not to pay any sums of money to anyone, under any name, in all sorting, long stops, and under bridges, and collection books have been withdrawn and circulated to all concerned.” By stopping all collection work and notifying the delegates of their commitment to this and implementing it in practice.” He stressed that anyone who violates the directives and collects any amounts from any public transportation driver will be arrested.
He stated that the Authority has installed information signs in public parking lots and under bridges that include the new directions, with free complaint numbers to report anyone demanding any fees from public transportation.
The head of the General Authority for Land Transport Affairs praised the efforts and cooperation of the traffic police with the authority in implementing the decision and bringing it into practical application.
It is noteworthy that the directives of His Excellency President Mahdi Al-Mashat were met with wide satisfaction among public transportation drivers as they met the demands of this segment, and will have a significant impact in improving the quality of transportation and providing better service to the citizen, and achieving feasibility for workers in this field.
