local authority in Hodeida & Safer Committee honor Safer rescue & insurance crew

The leadership of the local authority in Hodeida province and the Safer Committee honored on Monday the crew of the Dutch “Smith” company in charge of unloading and transporting crude oil from the Safer tanker to the replacement ship.

During the honoring, the Governor of Hodeida, Muhammad Qahim, the Chairman of the Safer Committee, Zaid Al-Washli, and the Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces and Coastal Defense, Brigadier General Mansour Al-Saadi, presented gifts to the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, William David Gressly, and the company’s crew for successfully unloading the oil from the Safer ship.

Governor Qahim praised the efforts made to save the ship and prevent an environmental disaster in the waters of the Red Sea, considering the success of transporting oil from Safer, which was subjected to systematic aggression, as the culmination of the sincere efforts of the National Salvation Government.

For his part, the head of the Safer Committee appreciated the positive role played by the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs, to end the Safer crisis, which represented a real threat due to the restrictions imposed by the aggression and the prevention of its maintenance.

In turn, the Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces noted the procedures and steps related to unloading the Safer ship and transferring its cargo of crude oil to the replacement ship.

While the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs expressed his thanks to the Salvation Government, the Safer Committee and all concerned parties that contributed to supporting the steps and procedures for saving the floating Safer reservoir and overcoming the tasks of the technical, logistical and administrative team in charge of the process of evaluating the ship and transferring oil to the replacement ship.

During the honoring, which was attended by a number of concerned leaders and members of the Safer Committee, the crew of the “Smith” company praised the cooperation of the Salvation Government and the keenness that the work team felt in securing its tasks during the period of saving the Safer ship.
