Meteorology warns of dust wave in number of provinces

 

The National Meteorological Center on Monday warned of a local dust wave that has formed in the deserts of Jawf and Saada provinces as a result of the downstream caught in the currents accompanying with the massive debris clouds that affected Najran region and the border areas.

The center said in a statement received by Saba that the dust wave moved very quickly with the north-east winds to spread over the mountainous regions up to the southern coasts.

It pointed out that the nature of the local waves resulting from thermal depressions in deserts or from descending streams from rapid cumulonimbus that widespread, unlike dust waves that continue to affect for several days.

The center predicted that this wave will drive away over the next 24 hours with a marked improvement in weather conditions in the northwest highlands and increased chances of rain during the afternoon and evening hours.

It advised citizens to wear masks and not to open windows and doors, as well as ensure that children, the elderly and those suffering from chest diseases are not exposed to dust.
