More than $ 207 million, losses of road transport as a result of the aggression

 

The direct and indirect losses and damages suffered by the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs as a result of the aggression and blockade over a period of six years amounted to 207 million and 346 thousand dollars.

The head of the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs, Walid Al-Wadaei, explained the direct damage and losses suffered by the authority as a result of the aggression and the siege until December 2020, amounted to six million dollars, including the bombing of the authority’s main center and the complete destruction of the Al-Tawal International Land Port and Al-Bari Port.

He pointed out that the indirect losses and damages resulting from the aggression amounted to 55 million and 902 thousand dollars as a result of the cessation of collection from the revenue channels in the ports and branches and the control of the forces of aggression and its mercenaries over the two branches of the Authority in Aden, Hadramout, the ports of deposit and the shipment of land.

Al-Wadaei pointed out that the damage included, in addition to that, the complete destruction of the international land ports of Al-Tawal and Al-Bari Al-Bari, which led to the cessation of collection of these revenues, with a loss of 88 million and 750 thousand dollars, and the disruption of work on the wage returns and services of the land ports.

He stated that the revenue losses as a result of the stalling and stalling of future projects that were scheduled to be implemented in 2015, including the stopping of construction projects at the Al-Tawal International Land Port, amounted to eight million and 875 thousand dollars.

According to the head of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, the losses of dry port projects amounted to 35 million and 500 thousand dollars, and the projects of passenger transport stations amounted to four million and five thousand dollars, in addition to the projects of the land centers for logistical services in the sea ports, amounting to eight million and 313 thousand dollars.

He stated that the technical, professional and administrative cadres at the authority worked under the constant bombardment of the aggression’s aviation, to activate and revive the land transport movement and advance it from under the rubble, which the aggression sought to paralyze its effectiveness over a period of six years.

Al-Wadaei pointed out the importance of road transport in the life of societies, as it is the most common and flexible, in addition to being cheaper as it has a high ability to carry goods over short and long distances and has positive returns for the citizen and the state in general for transporting products between villages and cities.

He emphasized that the authority, its branches and its land ports were subjected to systematic aggression in an attempt to disrupt the transport sector due to its economic and social consequences directly related to the lives of Yemeni citizens.

He also confirmed that despite the ongoing aggression and siege, the Land Transport Affairs Regulatory Authority has made achievements in the areas of land transport and within the matrix of the national vision for building the modern Yemeni state and the current situation according to the guidelines and directives issued by the Executive Office of the Vision Management.

The Chairman of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority touched on the projects of strategic importance in the various land transport sectors that were included in the national vision, including the dry ports in the Municipality and Sana’a Governorate, considering that the implementation of these projects represents a qualitative leap in organizing transport means, reducing congestion, organizing revenues and resources, and upgrading the sector. Road transport.

He said, “The authority’s leadership is nine to promote, develop and develop work in the fields of land transport, as work has been reactivated 100 percent of the authority’s branch in the governorates of Taiz and Al-Hodeidah, as well as opening branches of the authority in the governorates of Sanaa, Saada, Al-Bayda and Al-Jawf.”

Al-Wadaei emphasized that the efforts to activate the authority’s activities were successful, and the authority had an effective role in regulating the activities and services of land transport and collecting revenues in a better way than it was before the aggression.

He pointed out that among the strategic and investment projects under implementation currently underway, the heavy transport position project in the Hodeidah governorate within the second phase of the national vision, which includes the entrance gate, a central station, maintenance workshops, public facilities and services, the exit gate and the authority building with a capacity of not less than 1500 stops.

He reaffirmed the Land Transport Regulatory Authority’s emphasis on combating corruption and regulating revenues through an agreement between the ministries of transport, finance and local administration, to merge transport offices with the authority, which contributed to the promotion and development of land transport and the development of revenues.

Al-Wadaei concluded his statement by saying, “The authority is currently working to activate training and qualification programs for the cadres of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority and its branches in the governorates in various fields, with the aim of providing distinguished and advanced services
