Signing an agreement between the Land Transport Regulatory Authority and the Remote Sensing Center

Today, Sana’a signed a cooperation agreement between the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs and the Yemeni Center for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, to update and create a digital map for road transport services in Yemen, “the first phase, the capital.”

 

The agreement signed by the head of the authority, Walid Al-Wadie, and the president of the center, Dr. Khaled Khanbari, included the provision of a digital database for roads, parking places, public parking, sorting, and international and local transport lines to serve urban, interurban and international transport.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Hashem Muhammad Al-Shami stressed the importance of cooperation between the Yemeni Remote Sensing Center and the Land Transport Affairs Regulatory Authority and all state sectors.

He considered the signing of the agreement a positive step for providing a database and information that would contribute to providing services to citizens in various developmental and economic fields, through the modern digital map, especially land transport services.

Dr. Al-Shami emphasized the ministry’s keenness to provide facilities for all sectors of the state and the private sector to use the digital map.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Land Transport Affairs Regulatory Authority stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the authority and the Yemeni Remote Sensing Center, using the latest modern technologies in various areas of land transport.

He pointed out that the agreement comes as a translation of the national vision for building the state and represents a first step for developing the authority’s work in a scientific manner.

Al-Wadaei explained that the agreement will provide a spatial database for roads in the republic to provide road transport services in the various governorates.

He pointed out that the agreement aims to lay the basic building blocks for establishing a land navigation room equipped with the latest technical means, including surveillance cameras, network connectivity, providing data and instantaneous imaging of roads throughout the republic, in order to facilitate the smooth flow of transport and reduce traffic accidents.

In turn, the head of the Yemeni Remote Sensing Center considered the agreement a first step for the integrative work between the center and the various sectors, stressing the center’s readiness to provide its services to the state’s sectors.

The signing was attended by a number of officials of the Land Transport Affairs Regulatory Authority and the Yemeni Center for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems.
