The Committee to Combat Epidemics discusses the role of international organizations in supporting efforts to counter Corona

The Supreme Committee for Combating Epidemics, in its meeting today chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development, Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Hussein Makbouli, discussed aspects related to the role of international organizations in supporting the state’s efforts to confront the Corona virus.

In the meeting attended by the Minister of Health, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakkil, Transport Zakaria Al-Shami, Endowments Najib Al-Aji, Water Nabil Al-Wazir, Local Administration Ali Al-Qaisi and Higher Education Hussein Hazeb, Deputy Minister of Information Fahmi Al-Yousifi and Secretary General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, informed the acceptance of international organizations of the committee’s decision Supreme Council for Combating Epidemics, to conduct screening for arrivals to Yemen without exception, including international missions and organizations.

He pointed out that the domestic quarantine will be applied for fourteen days to those coming from 12 countries so far, “China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, USA, Palestine and France.”

Dr. Makbouli stressed the need for international organizations to play their part in preparing quarantine at Sanaa International Airport and outlets in the governorates, and to provide temperature measuring devices, medicines, and masks.

In turn, the Minister of Health pointed out the importance of organizations assuming their responsibilities in supporting Yemen’s efforts in confronting the Corona virus, providing quarantine at Sanaa airport and ports, and supporting rapid response teams.

He stressed that the Ministry of Health approved the examination of all arrivals to Yemen without exception, including diplomats, as part of the precautionary measures to confront the Corona virus … indicating that whoever suspected the Corona case would enter the quarantine for a period of 14 days.

For his part, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs expressed the hope that the organizations operating in Yemen would take positive actions with the measures taken by examining all arrivals and the necessity of supporting the needs of the Ministry of Health to confront the Corona virus and equipping quarantine and isolation centers.
