The Higher Committee for Combating Epidemics decides to conduct an examination of all arrivals to Yemen without exception

The Supreme Committee for Combating Epidemics, at its meeting today chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development and Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Hussein Makbouli, approved the examination procedure for all arrivals to Yemen without exception, including the missions of international organizations and the United Nations.

The meeting, in the presence of the Minister of Health, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakkil, Transport Zakaria Al-Shami, Endowments Naguib Al-Aji, Water Nabil Al-Wazir, Local Administration Ali Al-Qaisi, Higher Education Hussein Hazeb, Deputy Minister of Information Fahmi Al-Yousifi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Administration and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, and the Joint Technical Committee to prepare to meet Corona, Ali Decision of the Minister of Health on the epidemiological developments of the global emergency new Corona virus.

The decision included the application of quarantine procedures upon the arrival of all arrivals from outside Yemen without any exception, “Yemenis or non-Yemenis through the air, sea and land ports, which include filling the travel card and checking the temperature.”

The decision also included applying the domestic quarantine for a period of fourteen days to arrivals from 12 international countries so far, “China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, USA, Palestine and France.”

According to the decision, the joint technical committee has the right to add any country according to the developments of the epidemiological situation in it. It also has the right to place those it deems institutionalized quarantine in accordance with its authority and the relevant authorities to take executive measures to implement this decision in the public interest.

The meeting stressed the importance of taking precautionary measures to confront the Corona virus and allocating a budget for that, and supporting the Ministry of Health to play its role in equipping isolation centers and rehabilitating health personnel.

It was also emphasized that the ministries of health, information and endowments intensify awareness through the various different media, social media, platforms and guides about the dangers of the Corona virus and ways to prevent it.

The meeting heard the proposals of the joint technical committee to confront Corona, which includes allocating a budget of one billion riyals to confront the virus, preparing the governorates in cooperation with the Ministry of Health for isolation centers in anticipation of any emergency, and enhancing cooperation and coordination between different sides to confront this virus.

Dr. Mekbouly stressed the importance of the meeting to complete the previous meetings to discuss the precautionary measures to counter the Corona virus.

He praised the coordination and exchange of information between the Ministries of Health and Transport and its sectors in taking precautionary measures in various outlets.

He urged the ministries of health, information and endowments to intensify awareness among citizens to prevent Corna virus … stressing the need for everyone to fulfill their responsibilities to spare the country diseases and epidemics.

For his part, the Minister of Health, Dr. Al-Mutawakkil praised the efforts of the joint technical committee to prepare for confronting the Corona virus by taking precautionary measures to confront this virus.

He said, “Yemen has not recorded any suspected case or confirmed infection with the Corona virus until today, but we must mobilize and take precautionary measures to confront this virus in cooperation with various agencies and sectors.”

The Minister Al-Mutawakkil emphasized the necessity of examining all arrivals to Yemen, pointing to the importance of the home quarantine for arrivals who did not show symptoms of the virus, while institutional isolation of cases suspected of being infected with the virus and showing mild symptoms, while those who showed confirmed symptoms are taken to the hospital.

He also stressed the importance of expanding the numbers of rapid response teams, as the arrivals through the land ports in the thousands, which requires providing the capabilities for these teams to play its role, training cadres, preparing and supporting stone centers at Sana’a International Airport, ports, equipping hospitals and providing medicines.

In turn, the Shami Minister of Transport reviewed the efforts implemented by the Ministry with its various bodies and the precautionary measures that were taken in the land, air and sea ports.

While the Minister of Local Administration, Al-Qaisi stressed the importance of involving international organizations to provide support to confront the Corona virus, indicating the need for good preparation and the allocation of a budget to confront it.

The Minister of Awqaf Awqaf and Deputy Minister of Information, Al-Youssoufi, indicated the readiness to intensify awareness through various media outlets and platforms about the seriousness of the Corona virus and ways to prevent it and the importance of maintaining personal and public hygiene.

The Minister of Water, in turn, stressed the necessity of examining all arrivals to Yemen without exception, and the importance of raising awareness of ways to prevent corona virus.

While the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs indicated the necessity of examining all arrivals to Yemen in the sea, air and land outlets, and the support of the Ministry of Health in preparing quarantines and isolation centers.
