The inauguration of the first regiment of pilgrims to the Holy House of God through Sana’a International Airport

Sana’a International Airport left this evening the first batch of pilgrims to the Holy Land to perform the rituals of Hajj and Umrah for the current year 1444 AH via a Yemeni Airlines plane with 268 people on board.

In this regard, the Ministers of Guidance, Affairs, Hajj and Umrah, Najib Al-Aji, Transportation, Abdul-Wahhab Al-Durra, and Public Works and Roads, Ghaleb Mutlaq, inspected the progress of the procedures and facilities provided to the guests of Rahman at Sana’a International Airport, in implementation of the directives of the Revolutionary Leadership and the Supreme Political Council.

A press conference was held at Sana’a International Airport, attended by the Ministers of Guidance, Transport and Works, the Chargé d’Affairs of Yemen Airways, Khalil Jahaf, and the Director of Sana’a International Airport, Khaled Al-Shayef.

At the press conference, the Minister of Transport confirmed the interest of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council and its follow-up to the travel of the guests of Rahman through Sana’a International Airport, facilitating their travel and securing their property.

“Today, the first group of pilgrims of the Sacred House of God to the Holy Land was inaugurated and all facilities were provided to them, and these trips do not represent anything in front of the great need of the Yemeni people,” he said.

He pointed out that the pilgrims of the Sacred House of God are supposed to be dispatched through Sana’a airport, as they represent most of those registered in the Hajj and Umrah offices from Sana’a and the nearby governorates, but the aggression coalition and its mercenaries in Aden kept delaying until they allowed only three flights by air.

Minister Al-Durra pointed out that it was agreed that the pilgrims and Umrah performers would return after completing the Hajj rituals through Sana’a Airport.

He revealed arrangements for the operation of Al-Saeeda Airlines for the return of registered guests of Rahman through land transportation by transferring their air tickets to Sana’a Airport to facilitate their return and ensure their safety.. He called again for the full opening of Sana’a International Airport and the return of all flights as they were before the aggression.

“Before the aggression, the number of flights from Sana’a airport per day was approximately 50 flights, at a rate of five thousand passengers, which is a legal and international right legitimized by international laws and conventions,” he said.

The Minister of Transport touched on the incidents and crimes of murder and looting that travelers were subjected to over eight years through unsafe roads in the southern governorates, stressing the continuation of the Ministry of Transport, as well as the ministries concerned with follow-up until the opening of new destinations, foremost of which are the destinations of Cairo and India, in which the percentage of understandings reached 80 percent. With the aviation authorities in Cairo and India, in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of sick travelers, students, expatriates and those stranded abroad.

In turn, the Minister of Guidance and Hajj and Umrah Affairs reviewed the dangers that pilgrims were exposed to during the previous years as a result of their overland travel through unsafe and rugged roads.

He said, “The pilgrims leave Sana’a and travel 2,000 kilometers, where accidents and deaths occurred because of the roughness of the road, in addition to the fact that it is not safe.”

Minister Al-Ajji expressed hope that the opening of Sana’a International Airport for the guests of Rahman would be a good sign for the opening of Yemeni airports, foremost of which is Sana’a International Airport for travelers, pilgrims, patients and others, stressing that these are purely humanitarian aspects.

He emphasized the interest of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council in alleviating the suffering of the pilgrims and working on their air travel to secure their lives and properties.

For his part, the Minister of Public Works and Roads explained that the flights through Sana’a Airport for the pilgrims of the Sacred House of God do not represent anything significant, as tens of thousands of pilgrims left by land and incurred road risks and interruptions.

He pointed out that there are supposed to be 200 flights, since the number of Yemeni pilgrims is 24,000.

For their part, a number of pilgrims expressed their happiness at the opening of Sana’a International Airport to facilitate their departure through the airport to the Holy Land, thanking the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council for the continuous efforts to transfer them to the holy sites through Sana’a Airport.
