The Minister of Transport stresses the importance of the role of the Red Sea Ports Corporation in promoting the economy

The Minister of Transport, Abdulwahab Al-Durra, stressed the importance of the role of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation in promoting the national economy.

The Minister of Transport indicated at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Corporation today in Sana’a that the tasks entrusted to the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation lie in serving the Yemeni people by facilitating the entry of basic materials through the port of Hodeidah with its capabilities and equipment.

He pointed to the interest of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council in activating the role of the Ports Corporation in meeting the needs of society and alleviating its suffering, despite the aggression, the siege, and the damage to the equipment and devices targeted by the aggression’s aircraft to remove it from its technical readiness.

Minister Al-Durra urged the corporation’s leadership and employees to make more efforts to develop performance in the technical, professional, administrative and financial aspects, stressing the need to pay attention to training and qualifying the corporation’s cadres to keep pace with developments in the field of maritime navigation in accordance with international standards.

In turn, the head of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, explained that the corporation is working to serve most of the population of the Republic of Yemen by facilitating the entry of imports of basic food supplies, with an estimated 70 percent of those arriving at the port of Hodeidah.

He pointed out that the coalition of aggression imposed a siege on the ports of the institution due to its realization of its active role in facilitating the entry of basic materials for the Yemeni people, by systematically and directly targeting the ports to stop their activities to prevent them from providing their various services.

Ishaq pointed to the crimes and violations of the aggression against the corporation’s ports, starting with the siege of its ports, which the forces of aggression began to implement on March 26, 2015, and the accompanying siege, procedures, obstacles and arbitrary practices on ships arriving at the corporation’s ports for more than seven years.

He stressed the importance of the compliance of the completed procedures with international laws and agreements related to war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Yemen.

The meeting, in the presence of members of the Ports Corporation’s Board of Directors, discussed the evaluation of the performance of the financial plan for the fourth quarter of last year 2021, compared to linking the budget for the same period.

The meeting reviewed aspects related to raising the level of performance in a way that enhances the role of the institution during the current stage and the topics listed on the agenda, and took appropriate decisions regarding them.

The meeting touched on the level of achievement of the Foundation’s activities, programs and projects within the national vision in the ongoing and stalled second phase.
