Inauguration of the reopening of the Aqabat Tharah road linking Al Bayda and Abyan governorates

The governors of Al Bayda, Abdullah Idris, and Abyan, Saleh Al Junaidi, along with the chairman of the board of directors of the Yemeni News Agency, Saba, Nasr al-Din Amer, and the military committee, today inaugurated the reopening of the Aqabat Tharah road linking Al Bayda and Abyan governorates, after removing all obstacles and war remnants.
The governor of Al Bayda confirmed that the opening of the road on Aqabat Tharah comes in implementation of the directives of the leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the president of the Supreme Political Council, Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the people of Al Bayda and Abyan governorates, as well as travelers who were suffering greatly due to traveling by other roads.
He expressed hope that the other party would respond to this step, which serves the citizens who bear all the burdens resulting from the road closures. He said, “We announced a year ago that we would reopen this road, and here we are today, with political, military, local, and security leaders, inaugurating the opening of this road.”
Governor Idris praised the efforts of the Military Works and Executive Unit in Al Bayda Governorate in removing debris that was obstructing traffic on the road.
For his part, the Governor of Abyan praised the commitment of the Revolutionary Leadership and the Supreme Political Council to reopen the roads to alleviate the suffering of citizens under the conditions imposed by the aggression and blockade, praising the efforts of all those who contributed to the success of this humanitarian mission.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saba News Agency indicated that visiting this road for the second time comes to confirm and announce the full readiness of the government in Sana’a that the road is now passable on one side and that any vehicle can pass if the other side opens the road.
He said, “We had previously announced this initiative, and today we reaffirm it with the completion of the removal of all obstacles from the road, which is now ready on our side. The other side must take the initiative to open the road to serve the people, free from any political objectives.” Amer pointed out that opening the road reflects the leadership’s awareness of the suffering of citizens and its commitment to alleviating this suffering, free from any political agenda or exploitation. He expressed hope that the other party would respond to the initiative by opening the road on its own behalf.
For his part, the Vice Chairman of the Military Committee, Brigadier General Hussein Al-Daif, addressed the efforts and coordination made to open this road in implementation of the leadership’s directives, which were closely monitored by the Chief of the General Staff.
He highlighted the importance of this road, which connects the governorates of Al Bayda and Abyan, and which has been cut off in recent years as a result of the aggression against Yemen and the other party’s failure to respond to initiatives announced by the leadership in Sana’a to open this important road.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Mukayras District, Yasser Jahlan, and the security leaders expressed their thanks to the Leader of the Revolution for his generous directives to open this road, given its importance in alleviating the suffering of citizens. They called on the other party to take the initiative to open the road on its own side at this time.
Those present appreciated the role of the Commander of the Seventh Military Region, the Mukayras Axis Command, and the guards for their cooperation in facilitating the road opening. The governors of Al Bayda and Abyan, the chairman of the board of directors of the Yemeni News Agency, Saba, and the Military Committee discussed, during a meeting in Al Bayda, the final arrangements for reopening the Aqabat Tharah road. The meeting addressed efforts to remove barriers and restore the Aqabat Tharah turns and bridges that were damaged by the aggression, as well as road maintenance, which has reached 96 percent completion.
