SCMCHA & Al-Durra inspect operational process progress at Hodeida port berths

Minister of Transport, Abdul-Wahab Yahya Al-Durra, and the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, inspected on Saturday the progress of the operational process in the port of Hodeida.

 

Al-Durra and Al-Hamli, along with the head of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammed Ishaq, the two directors of the OCHA office, “Bridget Felty”, the projects in the United Nations Development Program, “Hima Khadaka”, and the deputy director of the World Food Program, Tariq Aoun, were briefed on the commercial and maritime activities. In port berths, handling and unloading of ships, and services provided to ships.

 

Minister Al-Durra praised the improvement of cargo loading and unloading services, and the provision of facilities and integration between the various facilities operating in the port with the shipping companies.

 

He praised the efforts of the Corporation’s leadership and workers in revitalizing the port of Hodeidah, the work of loading and unloading, providing more services and facilities to shipping companies, businessmen and investors, and enabling it to enhance its role in economic, commercial and investment activity in the province.

 

He pointed out that the commercial activity of the port will witness, during the coming period, a remarkable development, which will contribute to raising the level of activity at all levels.

 

The Minister of Transport urged the private sector to benefit from the facilities provided by the port and the concessions announced by the Salvation Government and the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation and the sectors operating in them, in a way that contributes to alleviating the burdens imposed by the countries of aggression by raising customs duties in Aden.

 

He stressed the keenness of the Ministry and the Corporation to encourage the private sector, and to grant it all advantages and facilities

 

As an essential partner in development. While the CEO of the Corporation reviewed the procedures followed in receiving and unloading cargo ships arriving at the port, stressing the cooperation of all parties in smooth procedures.

 

In addition, Minister Al-Durra and his entourage made a sea tour to the draft of the port of Hodeidah aboard the “May 22” launch, during which they were briefed on the security and safety measures that accompany the entry of ships from the draft, and linking them to the port’s berths.
