A coordination meeting for transport and logistics companies and institutions in the capital city

 

A coordinating meeting for transport and logistics companies and institutions was held in capital Sana’a Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of the Chamber’s objectives to enhance the role of the private sector working in this field, and to highlight the sectors and economic activities of its members.

 

At the meeting, the Chamber’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Hassan Al-Kbous, affirmed the keenness to form a Division of Transport and Logistics, through which the sector would be developed, organized, and launched towards sustainable activity and attracting investments.

 

He pointed to the importance of establishing the Division of Transport and Logistics, based on the role of this sector in the economic development of our country, and operating the land, sea and air transport activity and all related logistics.. He pointed out that this division would contribute to serving the private sector in this field. Highlighting the sectors and economic activities of its members.

 

Al-Kbous said: “The private sector is the operator of transportation activities of all kinds in our country, and the accompanying logistics, and it alone bears the responsibilities of transporting food, medicine and all the necessities of life for citizens under difficult circumstances, obstacles and high costs, as a result of the war and the economic blockade on Yemen.”

 

He touched on the losses incurred by the transport sector as a result of the rise in global fuel prices and the closure of Yemeni ports and impeding their activities externally, then raising the costs of transporting goods to Yemen by sea and air, the rise in marine insurance and the stopping of shipping lines from reaching the ports and then the costs of internal transport.

 

Al-Kbous expressed the readiness of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Capital Secretariat to help develop solutions to the problems he faces in partnership with various parties to upgrade, develop and increase his activities, so that he can achieve added value and significant growth.

 

And he indicated that the Yemeni private sector, despite the severe suffering it is facing from the effects of the war and the siege, continued to supply the market with foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, clothing and all consumer goods, and risked its capital internally and externally, in order to carry out its national mission to meet the citizens’ living needs under all circumstances.

 

At the meeting, in the presence of the Chamber’s Vice-President Mohamed Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Sharp, Board Member Dr. Mohamed Al-Ansi and the Chamber’s Director General Adel Al-Khulani, Tamim Al-Saqqaf presented the Chamber’s efforts and activities in serving the private sector, and the mechanisms for establishing the people in the Chamber of Commerce in accordance with Law No. 28 of 2003 regarding Chambers Commercial and Industrial and its General Federation.

 

The meeting included discussions and a number of topics were presented by officials of transport and logistics companies and institutions, and their activities and role in developing, coordinating and unifying efforts to serve work, as well as the obstacles facing the transport and logistics sector. The commercial and industrial sector in capital Sana’a, according to the legal procedures for the elections of sectors and specific committees, according to the regulation organizing their work.
