A meeting at the Ministry of Transport discusses strategic plans to develop the sector

A meeting held at the Ministry of Transport discussed future strategic plans for the development of the transport sector, in a way that enhances its role in economic development and alleviates the suffering of citizens.

The meeting, which included Advisor to the Supreme Political Council Mohammed Moftah, Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Dr. Hussein Maqbouli, Minister of Transport Abdul Wahab Al-Durrah, his deputy Muhammad Al-Hashemi and Chairman of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority Walid Al-Wadi’i, reviewed priority service and investment projects in the various fields of transport.

At the meeting, Moftah confirmed that there is a strategy that will be implemented to enhance the role of the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated bodies and institutions in the fields of land, sea and air transport in light of the leadership’s direction to improve services provided to citizens and reduce the cost of transportation between governorates.

For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister reviewed the government’s efforts to overcome the difficulties facing the transport sector, and to strengthen the efforts of the Ministries of Transport, Public Works and Roads, and the Road Maintenance Fund, with regard to transport lines, through their maintenance, and the establishment of new transport lines to create competition and enhance the role of the authorities concerned with transport according to What controls and procedures are determined to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

While Minister Al-Durra affirmed that the ministry, its bodies and institutions have plans for strategic investment projects that will work to improve the various transport sectors.

He explained that a number of development investment projects were presented at the Third Forum for Investment Opportunities, including the implementation of a tunnel on the Sana’a-Hodeidah road in the Manakhah district, the establishment of dry ports in Sana’a and Dhamar, and other projects of feasibility and economic importance.

He pointed out that the ministry is working in coordination with the concerned authorities to develop solutions to alleviate the suffering of citizens as a result of the increase in transportation fares as a result of the blockade imposed by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression.
