A press conference at the port of Hodeida reviews the facilities granted to importers

 

A press conference was held , explaining the advantages and facilities granted to importers of containerized goods through the port of Hodeida, and the preparations of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation and the authorities operating in the port.

At the conference, the Governor of Hodeida, Muhammad Ayyash Qahim, and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Muhammad al-Hashemi, reviewed the results of the consultative meeting of the economic and commercial sectors regarding the Supreme Political Council’s taking the necessary measures to secure the arrival and distribution of imported food and pharmaceutical goods and products, and the basic needs within the framework of the guaranteed and stipulated rights In international laws and treaties as an emergency treatment.

They pointed to the need to alleviate the burdens of poverty and the deteriorating and collapsing standard of living for the Yemeni people, due to the aggression and military and economic war being practiced against them.

They explained that the countries of the coalition of aggression against Yemen took UN Security Council Resolution 2216 as an excuse and a cover for all violations and economic sanctions against the Yemeni people, through maritime piracy on commercial ships loaded with food, medicine and basic needs, turning the matter into an economic war that led to hit and destruction. The Yemeni economy, and the widening of the cycle of poverty and hunger, according to the reports of the United Nations and the World Bank.

Qahim and Al-Hashimi pointed out that the first steps of the economic war began with imposing an air, land and sea blockade, and taking many measures and means, including: transferring the central bank to Aden, and cutting employee salaries, which caused the bank’s work to deteriorate, especially after printing trillions of banknotes without a cover Reaching the highest inflation rate that the country has not witnessed before, and the collapse of the riyal price, which led to an increase in the prices of goods and products, and the high cost of living that exceeded the size and level of citizen’s income.

They pointed out that the latest measures, which were not studied in the context of their economic war against all the Yemeni people, is the decision of the port of Aden to double the price of the customs dollar on all goods and products imported through the port of Aden, to prepare for what remains of the vibrant race of Yemenis in a long series of measures and means that It was carried out by the aggression and its mercenaries in their war for seven years.

Governor Qahim and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Al-Hashemi stated the interest of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council for the private sector in Yemen to provide benefits and facilities to traders and businessmen, which is reflected in the low prices of food commodities that contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens.

They stated that among the most prominent of these advantages is the issuance of a decision to reduce 49 percent of the customs tariff fees for traders and businessmen who intend to import goods by container through the port of Hodeida, and to provide other advantages and facilities at the port of Hodeida, which operates 24 hours a day to serve importers.

Qahim and Al-Hashimi called on importers and businessmen to take advantage of this important decision to reduce the customs tariff and the great advantages offered by the sector working in the port of Hodeida and to return to import through this strategic port, especially since their return to the port of Hodeida will contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens and maintaining the stability of the national economy and stability the currency.

They reviewed the decisions taken regarding the suspension of 49 percent of customs fees, the approval of the customs dollar price of 250, and the measures taken to raise the readiness of all authorities operating in the port, in order to achieve smoothness, speed, clarity and facilitate importers’ transactions.

He indicated that the meetings and consultations with the Chamber of Commerce and the Chambers of Navigation confirmed the readiness of all merchants to import through the port of Hodeida, and the necessity of importers’ commitment to go to the shipping companies, and to request import through the port of Hodeida.

Qahim and Al-Hashimi pointed out that a joint operations room was formed to solve any problems encountered by importers through the port of Hodeidah, and to establish a special register in the operations room of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and to give priority to every complaint that reaches any obstruction in the port of Hodeida, under the direct supervision of the ministry’s leadership.

In the press conference held on the berth of the port of Hodeida, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, confirmed the readiness of the port of Hodeida to receive ships loaded with goods, food and medicine, especially after the corporation took many measures that contributed to raising the efficiency of the port’s berths and facilities. .

He noted the decision of the Political Council and government measures to confront the consequences of the decision to raise the price of customs tariffs in the ports of the mercenaries of aggression, to alleviate the suffering of the citizen, and reduce the percentage to 49 percent to reduce the price hike, which is an advantage that facilitates a lot for sectors and traders.

And Ishaq indicated that the Corporation has taken a series of measures during the last period, which contributed to raising the number of ships loaded with containers to 193 after it decreased to three ships. The economy witnessed a decline due to the economic war and aggression, despite the aggression’s insistence, intransigence, and its blockade of navigation.

He stated that the institution adopted a mechanism to alleviate the suffering of traders and importers, which included the completion of all procedures within a period of three hours, after it took several days, in addition to a 50 percent reduction in service fees.

He urged everyone to direct activity to the port of Hodeida and to take advantage of the existing concessions aimed at alleviating the suffering of citizens in all governorates of the Republic.

While the Director of the General Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control, Ibrahim Al-Dawla, confirmed in the conference organized by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, the Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority, the Hodeida Port Customs, the Land Transport Regulatory Authority and the Maritime Affairs Authority that the Standards Authority provides many facilities and advantages to importers through the port of Hodeida. .

He pointed out that an integrated laboratory, one of the most modern laboratories in Yemen and the Middle East, was equipped to examine food inside the port.

He stressed the state’s readiness that the laboratory will work around the clock and throughout the week, including holidays and holidays, pointing to the authority’s readiness to conduct inspections and inspections around the clock by the best trained cadres in inspection operations.

He pointed out that a number of measures were adopted to speed up the release of goods and merchandise in record time, compared to other ports in the region, including full readiness to complete administrative and technical procedures with no less than 30 customs declarations per day, and 300 containers per day.

He stated that the authority has a package of systems and procedures, which are currently being studied, that will lead in the future to achieving the flow of goods and products at an unprecedented speed while ensuring the health and safety of the consumer.

For his part, Deputy Director of Hodeida Port Customs, Adel Yahya Abbas, indicated that Hodeida Port Customs provides many facilities for clearing goods and merchandise arriving through Hodeida port, in addition to implementing presidential directives and the Customs Authority to reduce 49 percent of customs duties costs for each importer through Hodeida port.

He stressed that the port’s customs have introduced the global “ASYCUDA” system, which works to provide facilities to traders, brokers and shipping companies through their ability to submit their data and competitions for ships from their offices through electronic linkage with the system.

Abbas pointed out that the ASYCUDA system is the main and essential component of the integrated and comprehensive customs information systems that are approved in more than 80 countries.

He stated that the port of Hodeida will provide all facilities to traders and investors in order to reduce manipulation of prices of basic materials
