Al-Durra and Al-Hamali review the matrix of necessary projects for the Ministry of Transport, its bodies and institutions

 

A meeting held in Sana’a, which included the Minister of Transport, Abdul-Wahab Yahya Al-Durra, and the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Administration of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamali, reviewed the matrix of the necessary needs and requirements of the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated bodies and institutions, in order to contribute to providing humanitarian services to the Yemeni people.

The meeting, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Transport Muhammad Al-Hashemi, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority and Meteorology, Dr. Mohammed  Abdul Rahman Abdul Qadir, and the deputy of the Ministry of Transport for the air transport sector, Abdullah Al-Ansi, discussed the projects of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation for the rehabilitation and activation of the port of Hodeida and Ras Issa, which he committed to finance and implement the United Nations Development Program in accordance with the Stockholm  International  Agreement, where the economic studies were prepared by a Dutch technical team specialized in seaports.

The meeting discussed the necessary needs to implement important strategic projects of high priority at Sana’a International Airport, navigation and security equipment, communications, equipment and communication and communication equipment in accordance with the international requirements and requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The meeting dealt with the necessary and special needs and requirements for the implementation of the emergency plan to confront any pollution of the marine environment by the oil spill in the waters of the Republic of Yemen in order to avoid any catastrophic environmental repercussions.

During the meeting, the Minister of Transport stressed the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) the need to speed up and implement what he committed to rehabilitating and activating the port of Hodeida, pointing to the importance of expediting the purchase and provision of cranes and bridge cranes according to the specifications that were destroyed by the aggression, in addition to providing devices and maintenance of special equipment, towing boats, guidance and navigational services at the port.

He pointed out that the Hodeida port is currently providing its services with modest human efforts instead of the cranes and devices that the aggression deliberately destroyed due to his knowledge of their importance in the field of maritime navigation.

Minister Al-Durra praised the role of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in a number of areas of development, construction and reconstruction of strategic projects of importance through coordination with international organizations working in Yemen.

“We commend the efforts of the Supreme Council with the Ministry of Transport by providing two fire engines to Sana’a International Airport and the Red Sea Ports Corporation in Hodeida and in all development and economic fields,” he said.

He stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation with the Supreme Council and working to enhance cooperation and coordination in the field of dealing with organizations to provide for the humanitarian needs of the transport sector.

He said, “It is necessary to strengthen means of coordination between the Supreme Council, the ministry and organizations, and work to implement projects.”

In turn, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stressed the need to provide projects that the United Nations has committed to through the development program in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement.

He pointed to the importance of the transport sector continuing to provide its humanitarian services to the Yemeni people, pointing to the importance of coordination with the Supreme Council.

Al-Hamali pointed to the need to provide technical studies for projects of the Ministry of Transport with priority needs.

Al-Hamali explained that the council will work to follow up on the United Nations by providing the ministry’s needs of devices and equipment according to the priorities of need and the available capabilities.

He said the Ministry of Transport and its affiliated bodies and institutions, despite the aggression, siege and destruction of its basic infrastructure, provide humanitarian services of importance to the Yemeni people in the land, sea and air fields.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Transport pointed to the importance of implementing projects and providing equipment and devices of importance to Sana’a International Airport and Hodeida Port, considering transport projects as a strategic national that provides humanitarian services to all Yemeni society.

He said, “The aggression and siege deliberately paralyzed the movement of land, sea and air navigation by intensifying air raids on it directly, and it did not succeed in achieving its goals with the steadfastness of the loyal patriotic mujahideen workers in the various fields of transportation.”

The meeting, which was attended by the Head of the Main Executive Unit at the Ministry of Transport, Eng. Nazir Al-Dabai, Director of the Maritime Affairs Authority in Sana’a Salah Al-Wazir, and Director of Air Transport at the Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Mazen Ghanem, resulted in the formation of a joint committee from the Supreme Council and the Ministry of Transport to coordinate and prepare for holding joint meetings, discuss priorities and raise proposals.
