Al-Durra: Developing Sana’a Airport and rehabilitating Taiz and Hodeidah airports are among the priorities of the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority

The Caretaker Minister of Transport, Abdul Wahab Al-Durra, confirmed that modernizing and developing Sana’a International Airport and restoring and rehabilitating Taiz and Hodeidah International Airports are among the priorities of the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority within their plans for the current year.

Minister of Transport explained during his visit to Sanaa Airport, along with the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Muhammad Abdel Qader, that Sanaa International Airport will witness a qualitative leap in development and modernization in the technical and technical fields and in infrastructure that will provide the finest air navigation services for civil flights across various destinations after the lifting of the siege. He pointed out that the development and modernization of Sanaa Airport comes as a translation of the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, as it represents the face of the country and the first gateway to the world and provides humanitarian services to most of the residents of the Republic of Yemen.

Minister Al-Durra touched on the technical equipment being installed at the airport to keep pace with the increase in the number of passengers, flights and destinations through Sanaa International Airport in the near future.
He pointed out that the project to develop and modernize the main corridor of the runway and aircraft landing is a priority for the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority, which will soon be implemented by the General Organization for Roads and Bridges in accordance with international specifications and standards.

He appreciated the efforts of the Civil Aviation Authority in preparing strategic plans and studies and self-financing them for projects of importance at Sana’a International Airport, indicating that implementation will be carried out according to the specifications of the International Aviation Organization (ICAO) during the current year.

The Caretaker Minister of Transport, along with the Chairman of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, reviewed the progress of the installation of the new devices at Sanaa Airport and the progress of work in the Training Department and Construction Department.

He also reviewed the ground services equipment of Yemen Airways, the restoration and maintenance of the reception hall and the ceremony halls, as well as the designs of the project to develop and modernize the main corridor of the runway and the aircraft landing, which will include the lighting system, guidance and communications services.
He inspected the arrival and departure halls and directed the completion of maintenance and development work in them, as well as the VIP lounges.

Minister Al-Durrah, along with the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority and the Director of Sana’a International Airport, Khaled Al-Shaif, launched work on installing modern security screening devices and training airport specialists on them.

They were accompanied by the Director of the Protocol Department at the Secretariat of the Presidency, Osama Al-Shami, the Airport Security Director, Brigadier General Jarallah Ahmed, the Deputy Director of Sanaa Airport, Osan Jarallah Omar, and the Authority’s Construction Director, Hadi Khairan.
