Discussing cooperation between the Ministry of Works and Transport to prepare engineering designs for dry ports
Deputy Minister of Public Works and Roads Eng. Muhammad Al-Dhahari discussed with the Chairman of the General Authority for Transport Affairs Regulation, Walid Al-Wadii today, cooperation in preparing engineering designs for the construction of dry ports in ports and city entrances.
The meeting, which included the Undersecretaries of the Ministry for Roads Sector Eng. Khaled Bashmakh and Works Dr. Yahya Al-Shami and Director of Studies and Designs at the Ministry of Transport, Engineer Abdullah Al-Gharbani, touched on the efforts of the two ministries to reduce congestion on the main roads.
The Deputy Minister of Works referred to the Ministry’s efforts in preparing designs and studies for various government projects, as they are the home of expertise.
Al-Dhahari stressed that the Ministry of Transport should cooperate with the Ministry of Works with regard to preserving the road network and limiting the damage caused by the overloading of heavy transport trucks, which is one of the main causes of road wear.
He stated that the Ministry of Works is in the process of activating the law of axial weight in a number of entrances to the governorates, which would reduce the damage to the road network due to heavy loads.
While the head of the Transport Authority valued the efforts of the Ministry of Works to maintain the road network in a difficult stage the country is going through, stressing the readiness of the authority to support the efforts of the Ministry of Works related to protecting the road network and alleviate the severity of congestions in some lines.
