Discussing coordination aspects between the ministries of Industry and Transport and the private sector

An expanded meeting chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade Abdul Wahab Yahya Al-Durrah and Transportation Zakaria Al-Shami discussed areas and aspects of coordination between the two ministries, the private sector, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the shipping sector.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Muhammad Ahmad Al-Hashemi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Internal Trade in Bassam Al-Gharbani, Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, Chairman of the Land Transport Affairs Regulatory Authority, Walid Al-Wadai, and Director General of the Yemeni Standards Authority Dr. Ibrahim Al-Muayyad and Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Capital Secretariat, Muhammad Mohamed Salah, officials of the Chamber and the General Union of Chambers of Commerce and major importers of food and basic materials, mechanisms of joint cooperation between the ministries of Industry and Trade, Transport and the commercial sector in the import process from Hodeidah port for various goods.

The meeting also dealt with a report on the efforts of the Yemeni Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority in consumer protection.

The report indicated that the authority had prepared a study to establish a central laboratory with international specifications in the port of Hodeidah during the next few period to facilitate the conduct of checks on different goods in the port.

In the meeting, the Minister of Industry and Trade indicated that this meeting comes to discuss any problems facing the private sector and develop solutions to them, based on the government’s eagerness to alleviate the suffering of the people.

He praised the role of the national private sector in the development process as a basic partner and a pillar based in the launch towards building the homeland .. stressing that the government will spare no effort in supporting this sector and overcoming all difficulties and enabling it to play its developmental role as required.

He stressed the importance of complementarity between the ministries of Industry and Transport, the Chamber of Commerce and the Ports Corporation, and coordination to facilitate and simplify the procedures for the flow of basic goods and goods, including the mechanism for entering containers through the port.

For his part, the Minister of Transport reviewed the efforts of the Ministry and its various bodies and institutions in providing services and facilities for the private sector, especially with regard to facilitating the process of unloading ships and containers in the port of Hodeidah, especially in light of the aggression and the blockade, procedures, complications and restrictions imposed by the countries of aggression on entering ships.

He pointed out that the government considers the private sector the second wing of state building … affirming the keenness of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation to provide services and facilities to all importing merchants without exception to serve the public interest.

He expressed the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate and provide the necessary facilities according to the available capabilities and in the public interest.

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade pointed out the importance of establishing the Supreme Council for Coordination between the government and the private sector in strengthening and developing the partnership and addressing any problems or difficulties facing economic and commercial work.

He pointed out the necessity of completing the mechanisms for establishing the council, calling on the private sector to provide the ministry with its vision of the council, so that it can submit it to the government for approval and announcing its formation.

He stressed the importance of continuing the meetings between the government and the private sector to produce an economic vision for the Yemeni state.
