Discussing the results of the work of the committees in charge of counting the services of the agencies operating in the port of Hodeidah within the single window project

 

A meeting in the port of Hodeidah, Sunday, 8-11-1444 28-5- 2023 AD, chaired by the head of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammed Abu Bakr bin Ishaq, discussed the results of the work of the committees in charge of counting the services of the authorities operating in the port within the single window project to develop services and simplify procedures.

The meeting, which included the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Service for the Monitoring and Performance Evaluation Sector – Chairman of the Services Development and Simplification of Procedures Committee for the Single Window Project, Abdullah Haidar, the Undersecretary of the General Authority for Investment, Abdul Rahman Al-Mahbashi, and the Vice-President of the Corporation, Zaid Ahmed Al-Washli, discussed the data that were counted and tabulated by the agencies operating in the port each. In accordance with the guidelines issued by it and presenting the results to the leaders of the port community.

In the meeting, the Chairman of the Corporation stressed the importance of the single window to provide distinguished services according to the methodology of the project to develop services and simplify procedures, which represents one of the projects of the national vision and a true translation of the government’s approach towards automation.

Captain Ishaq explained that the project is being prepared with professional cadres in accordance with international standards, pointing out that the services provided by the Red Sea Ports Corporation and the port community have been limited.

He pointed out that the plans are currently being prepared and reviewed to be issued in a guide to re-model the procedures for the services of the Hodeidah port community and re-engineer them in a technical way to simplify the inputs and create unified models for all parties.

He stressed the importance of doubling efforts to complete the project, which aims to shorten the documentary cycle and transactions related to unloading ships and transporting goods to the governorates, in line with the requirements of the current stage.

While the Undersecretary of the Ministry explained that the single window project is one of the most important international successful experiences in developing services, simplifying procedures and providing them to beneficiaries according to the latest quality standards, shortening time and avoiding complications.

He pointed out that the adoption of work within this project embodies the state’s approach to automation in the process of providing services through a single window that includes facilities and agencies related to the type of service.

Haidar noted the work accomplished by the field committees and teams in preparing the project to list the services of the Red Sea Ports Corporation and the vital sectors operating in the port community, stressing the importance of concerted efforts to bring the single window project to light.

He pointed out that the appropriate ground will be prepared for the single window project until a law is issued in it through the state’s approach to involve specialists in developing visions and perceptions in order to reach a practical guide that can be implemented on the ground.

He pointed out that workshops will be held over a period of two weeks, to improve performance and work on integration between all parties and classify services in a logical manner targeting the service provider, the beneficiary, the customer and the investor. Developing them in the future according to the increase in the activity of each party.

For his part, the Vice President of the Ports Corporation touched on the role of the single window project in achieving the highest level of efficiency of procedures and smooth handling of services and linking them to one side and under one roof.

In turn, Director of Hodeidah Port Customs Abdullah Muhammad Habib and the Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority, Eng. Ibrahim Ahmed Al-Dawla, confirmed that the project will facilitate procedures and reduce time and effort for those dealing with the authorities operating in the port, pointing to the steps taken in listing services to include them in a guide.

The meeting was attended by the director of the office of the head of the corporation, Nabil Omar Al-Majjaji, and members of the teams assigned to implement the single window project in the port.
