Dr. Bin Habtoor chairs a meeting to discuss the activities of the Ministry of Transport and the challenges it faces

A  meeting at the Ministry of Transport, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, discussed ways to develop institutional performance in the ministry and its affiliated bodies and institutions, in a way that enhances its role in serving the country and the citizen.

The meeting, which included the Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqboli, the National Vision Mahmoud Al-Junaid, the Deputy Minister of Transport Muhammad Al-Hashemi, the ministry’s undersecretaries and the heads of the Civil Aviation and Meteorological Authority Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Qader, the organization of land transport affairs Walid Al-Wadai, and the director of the Prime Minister’s office Taha Al-Sufyani, touched on the meeting. To the level of achievement of the Ministry and its affiliated bodies, of their annual plans and programs, and the projects of the second interim plan of the National Vision.

He also touched on the progress of the implementation of projects related to Sana’a Airport and the continuous operations carried out by the Ministry to restore its pivotal role in facilitating the travel and return of citizens, including the process of restoring the infrastructure damage left by the aggression.

The Ministry’s efforts in relation to the readiness of the ports of Hodeida and Saleef, and the projects completed by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation in the port of Hodeida, in light of the slowness of the United Nations in implementing the port rehabilitation program and providing equipment that was destroyed by the aggression despite the availability of the necessary financial allocations to it .

He reviewed the nature of the challenges facing the ministry and its affiliated entities, especially those related to ports and airports, and the solutions it resorted to to overcome those challenges, especially with regard to projects directed to advance the status of Sana’a International Airport, and work to meet all technical and logistical requirements and standards set by the Civil Aviation Organization International ICAO.

The developments in the campuses of Sana’a, Taiz and Saada airports were also discussed, and the measures taken by the Ministerial and Technical Committee headed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs, Lieutenant-General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, to confront these infringements.

The Prime Minister praised all the efforts made by the ministry and its affiliated bodies and institutions, and their impact on alleviating the suffering of citizens as a result of the aggression and siege.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Transport bears a great burden during this exceptional period, which calls for its support and assistance from all relevant government agencies to overcome the challenges it faces, especially the air transport sector, which continues to provide its services at the national level with impartiality, responsibility and high efficiency.

Dr. Bin Habtoor explained that his visit to the ministry is among the outcomes of the expanded meeting that brought together the leader of the revolution, Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi, and the head of the Supreme Political Council, Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, with the government and the leadership of the local authority in the capital and the governorates.

He noted the general directives of the leader of the revolution during the meeting, in which he stressed the need for regular institutional work, receiving and following up on citizens’ issues and developing solutions to them. Possibilities.

The Prime Minister stressed that the efforts of everyone in this ministry and other ministries and government agencies are appreciated by the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council.

In turn, the Minister of Transport reviewed the projects and activities implemented by the Ministry and its affiliated bodies that were included in the National Vision in its second phase with self-financing.. He indicated that work is underway in implementing important projects according to the directives of the Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, which pays attention to the rehabilitation of airports and ports that were bombed by before the attack.

He pointed out that Sana’a Airport has been subjected to systematic and repeated targeting that necessitated the implementation of emergency projects to rehabilitate and equip it, in the infrastructure, technical and technical, starting from the main runway for aircraft landing and take off, the lighting system, and the continuous maintenance of technical devices and equipment for air navigation.

Minister Al-Durra indicated that approximately 65 civil flights were carried out between Sanaa and Amman, carrying approximately 35,000 passengers during the three truce periods, which is a very small number compared to the situation before the aggression, when the number was about six thousand passengers per day. He stressed the need to open new and direct destinations for a number of countries, and to allow Arab and international airlines to reach Sanaa airport.

He pointed to the difficulties facing the Red Sea Ports Corporation in implementing strategic projects that were destroyed by the aggression, the most important of which are the bridge cranes, which are the backbone of work in the port of Hodeida.

He stated that the United Nations Development Program has not yet adhered to the Sweden Agreement regarding the implementation of important projects in the port of Hodeida, which was subjected to systematic destruction by the countries of the coalition of aggression.

The Minister of Transport indicated that the Land Transport Regulatory Authority has implemented many projects, including preparing the first phase of the digital map in capital Sanaa for sorting and parking for buses and identifying dry ports to regulate land transport, in addition to projects under implementation within the plan of the second phase of the national vision.

 

For his part, the President of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority reviewed what has been implemented in the field of civil aviation to serve air navigation and the preparation of technical plans for the rehabilitation of Taiz and Hodeida airports.
