Launching a project to prepare digital maps for land transport services

The General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs, in cooperation with the Yemeni Center for Remote Sensing, launched  a project to prepare digital maps for land transport services and its implementation program “Phase One, Amanat Al Asimah”.

At the inauguration, the head of the authority, Walid Al-Waadi, explained that the inauguration of the project, which will continue until the end of December of this year, began with the training and qualification of a number of cadres of the authority’s engineers and the Ministry of Transport to prepare the digital map of the project.

He pointed out that the project comes within the national vision in its second phase, 2021-2025, the phase of strategic implementation.

Al-Wadi’i pointed out the importance of training and qualifying cadres to save time and effort, considering that the cadres to be trained are a first nucleus specialized in preparing digital maps for land transport services in Yemen.

He stated that the project and its executive program, and the resulting database of land transport, will contribute to the implementation of a number of projects that the authority seeks to implement, including the project to establish a land navigation operations room to follow up on land transport movements of all kinds.

And he indicated that the digital map helps to identify and know the difficulties and obstacles facing the authority’s activity and address them with the least effort, in addition to its role in enabling the authority to provide its services in a modern manner.

For his part, Head of the Remote Sensing Center, Dr. Khaled Khanbari, indicated that the training comes within the framework of a joint project to build a spatial database for land transport services in Amanat Al Asimah as a first stage.

The project was considered the first cooperation between the Yemeni Center for Remote Sensing and the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs.
