Meeting of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (Corrected)

The Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, in its meeting today chaired by Minister of Transport Zakaria Shami, reviewed aspects related to strengthening the precautionary measures to counter the Corona virus in the air ports of the Republic of Yemen.

The meeting discussed the decisions of the authority’s board of directors regarding international airports in the Republic of Yemen and the importance of implementing them according to the directives of the Higher Committee for Epidemiology and the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO with the aim of protecting from the Corona pandemic.

The meeting discussed the side effects of the Corona pandemic on the air sector and the imposition of restrictions on flights that cross the airspace of the Republic of Yemen because of this pandemic.

The Authority’s performance report for 2019 and the level of achievement in the technical and professional fields in the aviation, navigation, meteorology and air transport sectors and its various branches and annual training plans for the current year in the technical, professional, financial and administrative aspects were also discussed.

The meeting reviewed the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for the Air Transport Sector, Abdullah Al-Ansi, and the head of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Qader, the structure and organizational regulations for the General Administration of Air Navigation Systems.

At the meeting, the Minister of Transport stressed the importance of strengthening preventive measures to confront the Corona virus in air outlets … indicating that the aggression coalition seeks to enter and spread the epidemic in Yemen by intensifying flights to airports under the control of the Saudi-Emirati occupation.

He pointed out the importance of coordination with the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities in the process of medical examination and control of travelers through international airports in the Republic of Yemen.

For his part, the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology affirmed the authority’s keenness to enhance the intensification of its efforts in raising the highest levels of precautionary measures in airports based on the plan of the Supreme Committee for Combating Epidemics.

He pointed out that the authority worked to enhance communication and coordination with the Ministry of Health and related parties to ensure that preventive measures are taken to confront Corona.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Kader pointed out that many precautionary steps were taken and circulated to all international airports in Yemen and airlines and raise health readiness to face the Corona epidemic.
