Minister of Transport inaugurates a project to maintain the asphalt yards of the Salif port in Hodeida

 

Minister of Transport, Abdul-Wahab Yahya Al-Durra, inaugurated the maintenance works of the asphalt yards of the Salif port berth, at an estimated cost of 147 million riyals, funded by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation.

The project, which covers an area of ​​17,400 square meters, includes a comprehensive restoration of the yards, filling the gaps and digging with an asphalt layer to facilitate the passage of vehicles.

Minister Al-Durra, along with the head of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammed Abu Bakr Ishaq, heard from the Director of the General Projects Department of the Corporation, Engineer Sami Makbouli, an explanation of the tasks of the maintenance team and equipment to complete the project according to the two-month schedule.

Minister Al-Durra noted the efforts of the Foundation’s leadership in financing and supporting this project, and its interest in port restoration and maintenance projects, which represent a priority in the Foundation’s management plan for the current year 1444 AH.

He urged the implementation of the project according to its own study and adherence to the specifications of asphalt and the approved quantities, to prevent any damages resulting in new losses in the restoration and rehabilitation of these yards.

Al-Durra, along with the head of the Corporation, Captain Isaac, briefed the port’s operational process and inspected the tug “Ras Issa” and the towing services it provides to ships arriving at the port.

The inauguration and the visit were attended by planning directors Dr. Wadah Majmal, technical affairs engineer Fahad Al-Jaboubi, tenders Ahmed Salem, marine operations in the corporation, Captain Mohammed Al-Says, deputy directors of the port, engineer Hussein Nasser, and port security major Mustafa Nour.
