Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi urges the relevant authorities to implement the traffic plan matrix

Member of the Supreme Political Council, head of the judicial system, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, stressed the importance of the commitment of ministries and relevant authorities to implement the matrix of executive procedures for the traffic plan.

This came during his speech at the opening of the activities of the first traffic conference  in Sana’a, under the slogan “Traffic Safety is a Shared Responsibility”, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs Lieutenant-General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, Services and Development Dr. Ali Al-Qaisi, Transportation Amer Al-Marani, Public Works and Roads Ghaleb Mutlaq, Mayor of the Capital Hammoud Abbad, and Member of Parliament Ahmed Shaye.

The senior political member pointed out that putting an end to the problems and traffic jams in the capital and provincial capitals, and reducing traffic accidents requires joint efforts and work from the ministries of interior, works, transport, local councils and relevant authorities.

He stressed that the executive matrix of the traffic plan that was agreed upon is the result of meetings and consultations between the relevant authorities, and a summary of field studies and a scientific diagnosis of problems and obstacles and identifying their causes.

Muhammad Ali al-Houthi praised the role of traffic police at this stage, stressing the importance of everyone supporting them.

The senior political member urged the media to play their role in traffic awareness as part of their responsibilities towards society, pointing out the importance of coordination between the Ministries of Interior and Education to include traffic awareness within the school curricula.

In the conference, which was attended by the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Ali Al-Saifi and Major General Ahmed Jaafar, the Director General of Traffic, Brigadier General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi, indicated that the traffic problem in Yemen is a complex problem as a result of corruption and mismanagement pursued by the previous regime and the poor or lack of urban planning for cities.

He stressed that corruption has caused the implementation of poor roads that do not meet the most basic technical and safety standards, which has created a huge number of problems and obstacles, most notably traffic problems.

He pointed out that the matrix of executive procedures is the result of a joint work by the relevant authorities under the supervision of a member of the Supreme Political Council, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi.. He explained that one of the objectives of the first traffic conference is to review traffic problems and solutions provided to them, discuss the mechanism of their implementation and determine responsibilities.

The conference discussed two working papers, the first entitled “Enhancing the Concept of Traffic Safety” presented by Colonel Abdullah Al-Nuwaira, and the second entitled “Engineering Design and its Relationship to Traffic Safety” presented by Dr. Abdullah Al-Masori.

The conference also included discussions and interventions by the participants on traffic problems and ways to address them.
