Signing an agreement between the Civil Aviation and Maritime Affairs Authority to exchange experiences

in Sana’a, the Civil Aviation and Meteorology and Marine Affairs Authority signed a joint cooperation agreement in the field of marine meteorology and the exchange of expertise, data and information in disseminating warnings and warnings of weather and climate risks to reduce disasters.

The agreement included providing the Maritime Affairs Authority with the regular marine bulletin and weather bulletins, as well as the marine bulletin required in emergency situations related to response operations to marine pollution incidents, in a timely manner, in accordance with the regulations in force in the meteorology sector.

The agreement focused on providing the Authority of Maritime Affairs – Meteorology Sector, with data related to the extent of disasters resulting from weather phenomena when they occur, based on their supervision of the conduct of ships, ensuring the safety of maritime navigation, coordination between the Civil Aviation Authority and the Meteorology and Marine Affairs Authority regarding external projects, and supporting the establishment, development and modernization of the Center. National Marine Meteorology Department and the development of marine meteorological services.

Deputy Minister of Transport Mohammed Al Hashemi indicated that the agreement aims to exchange experiences and information, support the establishment of a national center for marine meteorology, and develop capabilities in providing its services in a timely manner to all segments of society and relevant state bodies and institutions to mitigate the effects of advanced weather disasters such as hurricanes, rain and strong winds.

He stressed the need to activate services between the two bodies in providing important marine meteorological services, pointing out the importance of meteorological services for maritime navigation for ships passing through the Arabian and Red Bahrain, passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, except for ships that have hostile positions with the Yemeni people, especially at this sensitive stage.

Al-Hashemi urged everyone to benefit from the studies and experiences of countries similar to Yemen in the field of marine meteorology.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Meteorological Sector indicated that the agreement will open wide areas in marine meteorology to serve maritime navigation and joint cooperation in coordination to establish a national center for marine meteorology and develop the scientific skills and capabilities of technical and administrative personnel in areas of common interest.

While the Director of Administrative Affairs at the Marine Affairs Authority, Salah Al-Wazir, considered the signing of the agreement a qualitative leap in developing and modernizing marine meteorology and activating joint cooperation and exchanging experiences in a way that contributes to providing high-end marine meteorological services.

The signing of the agreement, which was signed by the Undersecretary of the Meteorology Sector, Engineer Muhammad Saeed, and the Director of Maritime Legislation and Legal Affairs at the Maritime Affairs Authority, Muhammad Al-Muayyad, was attended by a number of officials.

In addition, the Deputy Minister of Transport, along with the Undersecretary of the Meteorology Sector, reviewed the progress of work in the Meteorology Sector and the services it provides to all segments of society and state bodies and institutions in the field of meteorology.

Al Hashemi praised the efforts of those working in the meteorological sector in providing services to all economic sectors in the country, especially citizens, to protect lives and public and private property.

He called for improving the methods of delivering information to all citizens in a simple and understandable manner, stressing the Ministry’s continued support for the sector and overcoming the difficulties it faces.
