The leadership of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation meets the team of the Ministry of Finance headed by the deputy for the Economic Units Sector

 

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Abu Bakr Ishaq, met , Wednesday 19-1-2022 AD, the team of the Ministry of Finance headed by the Undersecretary for the Economic Units Sector, Dr. Akram Al-Washli.

 

In the meeting, attended by Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Yahya Abbas Sharaf El-Din, Captain Ishaq assured the Ministry of Finance team that this visit is the first step for the success of the work and familiarity with the operational requirements of the ports of the Corporation.

 

Referring to the service, humanitarian and development role provided by the institution.. He pointed out that the institution fully adheres to the directives of the Ministry of Finance and works with them in accordance with the laws and regulations issued by it.

 

He stressed that the foundation’s ports are different from the rest of the facilities, as the berths in them are the main factor and the first asset for the infrastructure and the equipment and machinery needed by the berth to serve the arriving ships and unload their cargo of materials, which must be with special specifications that have the ability to carry the capabilities of goods of various types and quantities.

 

He pointed out that the targeting of the ports by the coalition countries was aimed at stopping the operational process and completely neutralizing it from serving the Yemeni people.

He stressed that the accuracy of the aggression targeting container handling cranes at the port of Hodeida led to the paralysis of 60% of the port’s operational capacity… considering the remaining 40% completed by the blockade and threats to target the port.

He added that the leadership of the ministry and the institution, and with the efforts of the employees and employees of the institution, was able to restore the activity of the institution’s ports to serve the Yemeni people, and it maintained what could be maintained of equipment and mechanisms to activate the work in the port of Hodeida and restore its activity in receiving humanitarian aid and relief for the Yemeni people.

He stressed that the insistence of preventing the aggression on importing spare parts for machinery and equipment, most of which exceeded their useful life, put additional pressure on the institution.

The Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors reviewed a number of rehabilitation works that included some of the storage hangars in the port of Hodeida in cooperation with United Nations organizations through the development program.

In turn, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance explained that the visit to a number of economic sectors in Al-Hodeida governorate comes to see and learn more about the nature of their work on the ground in all technical, administrative, operational and financial aspects and to raise them with regard to each facility and according to the nature of its work and activity, as well as the imam on the revenue side of each facility and the automated system used in it .

The meeting was attended by the Director General of Internal Audit, the Director General of the Office of the Chairman of the Council, directors of departments, specialists in the General Department of Financial and Administrative Affairs, and specialists in the General Department of Human Resources.

In addition, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Corporation, his deputy and the Ministry of Finance team made a field visit to the Corporation’s offices and departments, docks and facilities affiliated with the Port of Hodeida. They were accompanied by the Director General of Maritime Operations, Captain Shawki Ali Murshid, the Director General of the Container Terminal, Captain Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Says, and the Director of the Construction Projects Department, Engineer Hussein Abu Bakr Gharamah.

During the visit, the ministry’s team was briefed on the work procedures and the progress of the operational process in it, and highlighted what is required to be provided for the continuation of work activity at the port
