The oil company warns of a humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the continued aggression in holding oil ships

The Yemeni Oil Company has warned of an impending humanitarian catastrophe due to the stoppage of the service and vital sectors, as a result of the aggression coalition’s continued detention of oil derivative ships and the company’s stock reaching a critical stage.

This came during the press conference organized by the company in front of the United Nations Office in Sana’a today, entitled “Continued arbitrary detention of oil derivative vessels with active international participation (facts and figures)”.

At the conference, the Minister of Oil and Minerals, Ahmed Abdullah Dares, reviewed the efforts made, procedures, claims and repeated promises that the Ministry of Oil obtained from the United Nations regarding the intervention to release the ships of oil derivatives held by the coalition countries without success.

He pointed out that all 21 legal and negotiating procedures, reviews and attempts to release these 21 vessels, including 15 petroleum and diesel vessels, three gases and three diesel oils, are in force, all of which have official entry permits to the port of Hodeidah by the United Nations.

He said, “The Yemeni people are steadfast and have not yielded and will not be silent and will face these arbitrary practices by all possible means.” He called on the media to intensify their efforts and convey the message with clarity and credibility and reveal the facts to the world so that it can bear witness to what the Yemeni people have suffered since the beginning of the aggression and the siege.

The Minister held the United Nations fully responsible for those practices that threaten a real humanitarian catastrophe, especially in light of the current conditions the world is witnessing as a result of the Corona pandemic.

For his part, CEO of the oil company, Ammar Al-Adrai, explained that the quantities currently available in the petroleum stations are not enough for days … warning of a humanitarian disaster as most service sectors, especially hospitals, will stop performing their services.

He said, “The situation started to sound the alarm and we are on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe that has not been witnessed in history as a result of the aggression coalition’s continued seizure of oil derivatives ships and it was not allowed to enter the port of Hodeidah despite the entry permits by the United Nations.”

Al-Adrai revealed desperate attempts to introduce locomotives loaded with adulterated oil derivatives in the ports coming from the occupied governorates, intended to flood markets with aggressive and conspiracy targets and plans targeting the Yemeni people.

He stressed that these quantities were not allowed to enter because the examination results proved that they were adulterated and invalid for equipment and machines.

At the conference, a statement issued by the oil company confirmed that the remaining stocks in the company of gasoline and diesel materials have reached a very critical stage and it is not sufficient to supply the most important vital sectors within its minimum limits.

The statement indicated that the aggression coalition under the United Nations continued to detain oil derivatives ships that carry about 420,000 tons of gasoline and diesel materials for about 90 days, as well as ships loaded with gas, fuel and food, despite being subject to investigation and inspection procedures in Djibouti and obtaining the specific permits from the United Nations According to the established mechanism.

He pointed out that if the situation is not remedied and oil derivatives ships are allowed to enter the port of Hodeidah without delay, then Yemen will witness a major humanitarian catastrophe during the coming hours.

The company held the United Nations and the Alliance of the Aggressive Countries responsible for the situation, as a result of the interruption of all vital sectors directly related to the lives and livelihoods of citizens, especially the health, hygiene, water, electricity, transport and communications sectors.

A statement issued by civil society organizations and unions also condemned the United Nations silence on the arbitrary practices of the aggression alliance countries and its continued detention of oil derivative ships.
