The Transport and Development Committees of the House of Representatives discuss the mechanism for rehabilitating and developing Hodeidah Port

A meeting, headed by a member of the Development and Oil Committee in the House of Representatives, Muhammad Siwar, and including the Development and Oil, and Transport and Communications Committees of the House, discussed the mechanism for rehabilitating and developing Hodeidah Port.
The meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Transport, Oil and Minerals of the caretaker government, Abdul Wahab Al-Durra and Engineer Ahmed Daris, reviewed future studies for the rehabilitation and development of Hodeidah Port in accordance with the recommendations of the House of Representatives regarding the maintenance of Berth No. “2” in Hodeidah Port, which contributes to enhancing and facilitating the smooth movement of oil ships entering the port. .

At the meeting, the Caretaker Minister of Transport affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to implementing the Council’s recommendations and quickly resolving the problems of receiving gas ships.
He explained that there is a future plan to develop the Yemeni ports affiliated with the Red Sea Corporation through studies and development plans.

Al-Durra stressed the speedy implementation of studies, reviewing the technical recommendations by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation and the recommendations of the Presidency Committee, and starting maintenance, given the damage to the pier due to humidity and erosion factors, and the expansion of the damage due to delayed maintenance.

For his part, the Minister of Oil and Minerals in the caretaker government affirmed the ministry’s readiness to adhere to all requirements, and the technical team must quickly prepare studies and begin maintenance in a way that facilitates the entry of ships to unload their cargo.

During the meeting, in the presence of the Chairman of the Transport and Communications Committee in the House of Representatives, Ismail Al-Samawi, the Chairman of the Services Committee, Engineer Ali Al-Kabudi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Maritime Affairs and Ports, Captain Muhammad Ishaq, the Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Engineer Yasser Muhammad Ahmed, and the Deputy Executive Director of the Yemeni Oil Company, Rami Hanab, the committee confirmed, On the speedy maintenance of the oil berth to reduce ship congestion and limit the expansion of damage, stressing the necessity of developing the Yemeni Red Sea ports and starting maintenance work and their expansion plan.

The committee heard clarifications from those concerned at the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation and the Yemeni Oil Company, stressing the commitment to the Council’s recommendations and the start of maintenance work immediately after the study is completed.

The meeting approved the reception and entry of gas ships into Ras Issa oil port, taking the necessary measures, conducting studies, and landing them in a tender to carry out maintenance.
The meeting was attended by a number of general directors of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation.
