Al-Durra and Qahim launch work on the project to establish a land port for heavy transport trucks in Hodeidah

The Minister of Transport in the caretaker government, Abdul Wahab Al-Durra, and the Governor of Hodeidah, Muhammad Ayyash Qahim, today inaugurated work on the first phase of the dry land port project for heavy transport trucks at the entrance to the city of Hodeidah.

The floor area of the port overlooking the eastern gate of Hodeidah Port is 44 thousand square meters, at a cost of 97 million riyals for the first phase, funded by the General Authority for Land Transport, which includes parking lots for trucks and heavy transport vehicles with accessories to provide them with fuel services and maintenance workshops.
At the inauguration, Minister Al-Durra appreciated the cooperation of the leadership of the local authority in the governorate in providing a basis for establishing the land port, which is one of the projects of the Land Transport Authority to organize parking for heavy trucks designated for transporting goods from the port of Hodeidah to the governorates.

He explained that work on the first phase of the project was launched after the ground was handed over to the executive unit in Hodeidah, to complete the work agreed upon under the project contract, which translates the directions aimed at developing land transport activity in the governorate.
Al-Durra confirmed that the Ministry’s intention to establish a dry land port in Hodeidah is one of the priorities linked to the national vision for building the state, noting that the land port will contribute to the collection of trucks to reduce congestion and random stopping on the main lines.

He stated that the port construction project, during its second phase, will include all facilities, requirements, and stations for trucks, to ensure addressing all problems of heavy transport and achieving a qualitative shift in organizing truck traffic and allocating public facilities for land navigation.

For his part, Governor Qahim confirmed that the local authority in Hodeidah is keen to support the efforts of the Ministry and the Land Transport Authority in implementing projects that will improve land transport.
The launch of the first phase of the project was considered an important step towards the rehabilitation of land ports, which will contribute to reducing traffic congestion.

The inauguration was attended by the Undersecretary of the Governorate, Muhammad Halisi and Ali Kabari, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Muhammad Ishaq, the Vice President of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, Zaid Al-Washli, the Director of the Land Transport Authority Branch in the Governorate, Ahmed Sharaf Al-Din, the Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance, Engineer Zaid Al-Murtada, the Director of Legal Affairs at the Transport Authority, Abdul Raqeeb Al-Hamzi, and representatives of transport companies. .
