Al-Ruwaishan stresses the necessity of field work to preserve the campus of Sana’a International Airport

The Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs, Chairman of the Main Committee for the Lands and Campus of Sanaa Airport, Lieutenant-General Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, stressed the need to move from planning to field work to preserve the airport’s land and campus.

This came in the third meeting of the Main Committee for the Lands and Campus of the Airport , which included the Minister of Transport, Vice-Chairman of the Committee Abdul Wahab Al-Durra, the Assistant Minister of Defense Major General Ali Al-Kahlani, the Deputy Ministers of Transport, Mohammed Al-Hashemi, Justice Dr. Ismail Al-Wazir, and the Chairman of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Qader.

“Everyone should realize the importance of Sana’a International Airport and its civil and humanitarian air navigation services for the Yemeni people,” Al-Ruwaishan said.

He stressed that the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority is the first executive body and the relevant authorities are helpful, given that the lands and campuses of the airport belong to the Civil Aviation Authority.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged everyone to redouble efforts and joint cooperation with the relevant authorities and achieve results on the field according to the outputs of the technical committee that was formed.

In turn, the Minister of Transport confirmed that during the previous two meetings, a number of sub-committees went to the lands and precincts of the airport to see and identify problems on the ground, and a report was submitted about the problems, obstacles and solutions to them.

He considered the arrival of the subcommittees to the airport lands and campuses as a positive step to translate the directives of the Chairman of the Supreme Political Council to move from theorizing and planning to the field reality.

Minister Al-Durra indicated that collective implementation, each in his field of competence, will contribute to preserving the lands and campus of Sana’a Airport, implementing development projects and completing the preparation of the new building for the airport.

For his part, the head of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority said that Sana’a International Airport is the first major airport in the Republic of Yemen.

He stressed the need to maintain the airport and work on developing and modernizing it in accordance with international requirements and conditions and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

During the meeting, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Civil Aviation Authority and Meteorology, Raed Jabal, and representatives of the relevant authorities, the heads of the sub-committees reviewed the reports of their plans and timetable, the outcomes of the meetings held, the level of implementation, and the difficulties and proposed treatments.

The meeting came out with a number of recommendations aimed at preserving the lands and campus of Sana’a International Airport and starting implementation on the field in cooperation with the relevant authorities in the coming days.
