China to build first electronic port to house “unmanned air taxi

The Chinese company, “E Hang”, the world leader in air vehicle technology platforms, has announced its intention to build the first electronic port for unmanned aircraft services in the world.

The company said, in a statement carried by the Russian website today, the night before last, that it will “cooperate with a local partner, in the city of Huizhou in the Chinese province of Guangzhou, to build the electronic port, which will accelerate the performance of the company’s services in the tourism industry.”

The plan includes the delivery of 20 units of the EHang 216, an independent two-seat passenger aviation vehicle, that will be used for sightseeing from the air.

The company previously carried out the United States’ first pilot test flights of unmanned aerial taxi vehicles, and obtained permits to test two-passenger electric-powered passenger aircraft in Norway, but focuses heavily on China.

The new electronic terminal building consists of three floors covering an area of 2500 square meters. The architectural features include a reception hall on the first floor, a passenger waiting area on the second, and a departure and arrival area on the third.
