Baghdad International Airport resumes flight after stopping for hours due to storm

Air traffic at Baghdad International Airport resumed today (Monday) to and from Iraq after stopping for hours due to a dust storm hitting the country.
The administration of Baghdad International Airport said in a statement today that it “clarifies to all passengers and airlines operating at the airport about the return of air traffic at the airport to normal and the smooth flow of the flight schedule.”
He added that the visibility was 650 meters.
And the Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced yesterday evening, Sunday, that the movement of flights will be suspended at dawn today in Iraq’s airports due to a dust storm hitting the country, which will lead to a lack of visibility.
The dust storm began on Sunday evening, and is expected to continue, especially in the southern region, until Tuesday, according to the statement.
And the government decided, in a statement yesterday, to “disrupt official working hours in official institutions, except for health, security and service departments” today due to “bad weather conditions and the entry of a wave of severe dust storms to separate areas of Iraq.”
Dust storms in Iraq have recently been repeated. On May 16, a severe dust storm hit the country, which led to the suspension of navigation at Baghdad and Najaf airports, in addition to recording more than two thousand cases of suffocation.
Specialists attributed dust storms in Iraq to drought, lack of rain, lack of vegetation around cities, and the absence of
artificial forests to repel winds and dust.
